Goodbye Avery Bradley. He's the odd man out.

Bradley is not going to take a discount, so im all for trading him for a quality big man in any event.

The C's will listen to offers on IT and Smart too, and if they will likely trade whoever they get the most value for.

This is just an opinion, but I would guess that three years from now, a backcourt of Fultz and Bradley would be somewhat better than a backcourt of Fultz and IT. If we get Fultz, we'd have to give him the keys to the car and see how far he could take us. I can't see him reaching his potential with IT scoring 25+ points a game.

The Celtics definitely suffer when Bradley is not on the court, its been pretty evident during these recent stretch of games he's been out, especially vs. Toronto.
That being said he might be the odd man out, but at the same time he also makes this team much more competitive.

Part of the reason is because ironically, he is our best rebounder this season.

If you trade him for a quality big man and keep IT/Smart, I'm down for it. (Plus Zizic coming over next season)

Bradley is a better shooter and an elite defender against 1s and 2s.

Smart can run the offense and a great defender against 2s and 3s.

He always is, I can't recall one season where people haven't said this. Even before Smart but certainly louder after. It was said that he is the 6th pick, he will start next to RR and AB will be 6th man, then it was Young will be ready to take his spot after half a season his 2nd season (some were clamoring during the first), RHJ before his first game and Rosier after SL (the first one)! Many said he wouldn't get paid his last contract and if he did it wouldn't be that high.


Now, AB is my favorite player but I still say, if Ainge decides to trade him I'll be on board because he knows what he is doing and he absolutely knows more than I do. I wouldn't be shocked either way trade or keep/extend, I'm just pointing out that I have heard this song and dance before.

Keep Smart. He's got more value with his defense and intangibles. AB makes the team more competitive, but Smart gives the team a competitive spirit.

Not many rookies even top end ones really contribute a whole lot to winning teams, and we will still be in win now mode next year.

I think with the bigger Fultz you could have 3 guard lineup at times. In a couple years Bradley and Thomas will be pushing 30, and could take more of a backseat role then when Fultz is more developed. 

No need to rush trading Bradley, Thomas, or even Smart if we drafted Fultz IMO.

We're going to be over the cap, so I'd rather keep the better player, not the cheaper one.

Holy premature post, Batman! Let's at least wait until we see the draft order before going down this road. Even if the Nets finish with the worst record, the C's could end up with as poor as the #4 pick, and/or could trade the pick (no matter what it ends up being), and/or could trade other players freeing up the backcourt.

Avery Bradley could very well be the odd man out, but there are ways too many ifs at this point to say that with any sense of certainty.

Exactly we could draft a PG and trade them too for a star.  Just another tread of what if that should be in the Transactions and ideas and rumors. But we clutter up the main one with bull threads.
