I already have a feeling we are going to lose some tight playoff games because Olynyk and Zeller can't grab a rebound for their life in the final few minutes.

Come on Ainge, get Bogut or Nurkic or someone cheap!

.... then life will go on.

Seriously, why are Celtics fans so impatient with this rebuild. It's going pretty well- we're the #3 team in the East!

When did people start fooling themselves into thinking that this team is a contender? A couple of good weeks and now we're going to win it all?
The only real mistake is the one from which we learn nothing.

If the C's don't get out of the first round, evaluate why they didn't advance. A series is an excellent opportunity to evaluate...6 or 7 games with the same team will tell a certain story, this story will suggest some of the probable short comings of your team.

I can't see them losing in round 1 barring injuries. The rest of the East is just so uninspiring after the Cavs, Raps, Celts.

These issues will matter more in round 2. But I don't know that this really changes anything.

Look to get FAs before the extensions for some of the vets on value deals kick in, cross your fingers that the (likely) 25% chance comes through, monitor the trade market as always, and scout the draft.

To me that plan is pretty much set in stone regardless of whether they win the championship or lose every game from here on out.

So much depends on context.

Do they get swept, or lose in 7 on a last second shot?

Did they have all their key guys healthy, or was somebody missing?

Did they lose despite their best players performing, or did the top guys fall flat?

No matter what, I think Brad's job is safe.  That said, if they fail in the 1st round and it's a convincing loss, that might change Danny's willingness to give up assets to take a step closer to contending, as opposed to simply making all the picks and developing the young guys.
amen on bolded.

more or less. Obviously a first round loss (assuming full strength) is a sign that this team has more ground to cover than can conceivably be covered by trading future talent.

I dont think you trade Thomas or Big Al or even Jae, but I also think it makes the decisions on extensions and sense of urgency on trading the pick a lot easier to deal with.

This team is not constructed to win in the playoffs.  There is no inside toughness to rebound and get the ball when needed.  Playoff basketball is slower and more 1/2 court tough basketball. You can only blame DA if this team is bounced again.  It will mean he did nothing again to get a big man to rebound and control the ball when its down to the wire.  We have good shooters and good defenders.  We have no rebounders. Zero. Our 6-2 guard leads the team.  That is laughable and not a winning playoff team.   :-\

It will finally force Ainge to pick a direction.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

This.

We could bring bring in Bill Russell himself, watch him grab 20 rebounds a night -- and we still aren't getting past the Warriors or Cavs.

Reality is, #18 won't come until the 20's, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't remain committed to playing hard nose, winning ball.   We're better off developing our young guys on winning teams.  That means you keep IT, so Smart can learn from him.   That means you keep Horford, to show the rookies learn how to be a professional.  They also means you keep AB and Jae, because they are tough and when a rookie comes along good enough to unseat them -- they'll be legit.

Trust the process.

Exactly.  You really might as well try to dump assets to go younger and build around brown and the two Brooklyn picks.

 I guess you never saw Russell play. Add those 20 rebounds to the box score, and about 8 blocked shots. Get another banner ready. KG of a few years back would be enough.

Stay on the same road. The team is in good shape.

Even after 3 consecutive years of 1st round exits?

So what would you do in this scenario?  What's the triboy16 plan of course?
that would be to make Jordan Mickey a permanent starter and trade everyone else for draft picks.
