I'd give up a lot for him, I think he would be more motivated if he wasnt clearly the guy like he is now.  Horford, Crowder, IT and Stevens could handle him.  I'd even go as far as Bradley, Amir, Brown & Nets 17

LOL at first I thought you meant "IT, Horford, Stevens and Crowder" for Drummond. I was like 

Eh idk that just seems a bit too expensive. Maybe if we could keep Brown, then I would.

Is Drummond good?  Serious question. 

OK, he's a great rebounder, but is he really much better than, say, Tristan Thompson?  He's not a good finisher, he doesn't block that many shots, he's a terrible free throw shooter, and it's unclear if he really helps a team that much on defense.


I suppose a lot of that is probably situation-specific, and maybe he'd be better on a more talented team.  Still, I'm not sure his actual value is in line with his reputation.

Yes.  Drummond is very good.  One of the best offensive rebounders in league history.  He is actually a pretty solid finisher at the rim at just under 70% from 0-3 feet, but doesn't have many post moves.  He isn't a great shot blocker, but does create a fair amount of steals.  He is actually fairly similar to Dwight in the early years.  Not quite as dynamic as Howard, but fairly similar.

I would be willing to pay more though. I'd be happy to deal lesser first round picks and young guys like Rozier if needed. Unsure about Smart or Jaylen. I don't think I'd give up the 2018 Nets pick as well as the 2017 Nets pick. Feels too much for Drummond. That is more of a superstar trade package than a borderline All-Star one.

Yep that sounds good. Detroit will definitely want "sweeteners" but it obviously won't include the likes of Smart/Brown/2018NetsPick

Plus, he's 23 - big men develop notoriously slow. He spent one year at UConn where he received minimal development. He's made some good progress in the NBA so far and has clear holes in his game. But, I mean, if he's nothing more than a bouncier Kendrick Perkins who rebounds way better and isn't as mean-looking, could we use that on this team? Absolutely. Even if we just had 2008 Perk that would be a real difference-maker right now I think.

And I happen to think Drummond is much, much more than that.
