to be a superstar-smart was a number one and stayed an extra year and has been knocked every year
i recently watched again Ball and his pace and vision is something else and he can jump but i'm skeptical of thin guys getting over the top of screens and the nba is a minefield of pick and roll double screen and after rj can this guy get that shot off against nba length and speed-

we watch isaiah and anything is possible-

I think Dennis Smith and Fox are more explosive and dynamic but Fultz seems more polished as a player.

I view him as a lock for a few reasons.

He is the most talented scorer/finisher at the pg position that I have seen come out since Kyrie. Not only is he a very good athlete, but the kid can do amazing things with his handle. He can break down the initial defense, then he can choose to pull up deep, pull up from deep mid range, pull up from close mid range, make another dribble move on the drive, and then finish a crazy floater or high off the glass. His offensive skill set is truly that good right now.

He is also capable of being a great 2guard because of his ability off the ball. He seems to always be in the right position on the offensive end of the court. People are enamored with Ball's passing, and while not as flashy, Fultz can make the vast majority of the passes Ball can. He is a gifted passer at this stage. If he was on a team with better players (like UCLA) his scoring would obviously be lower, yet his passing would be able to be on full display. I watched one of his games earlier this year, and his teammates missed 3 bunnies that he created with his next level passing.

He also has a ton of "defensive potential." At this stage he isn't great at it yet, but he makes plays all the time that have you going wow. Since he is such a high level athlete, every couple games he will get an insane block, or my favorite, pin a shot on the backboard as a pg.

Basically, he looks like a complete guard. Incredibly versatile, can dominate on or off the ball, and his only current weakness, he has all of the physical tools and drive to get better at.

Smoothest player in the draft. Dictates pace and gets wherever he wants to on the court with a tight handle.

Good shooter from pull up or spot up.

But can still explode in traffice like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aeC-yqSxFHA

The only comparison fitting is DeAngelo Russell skills with Mudiay athleticism.

Edit: I just realized I'm describing Damien Lillard. So that's probably better.

Can't tell because that team is garbage. But he has more active hands, 2 steals and 1.7 blks a game.. Frankly, college defenses play so much zone and rarely have to defend constant PnR that it's hard to judge someone's defense. If there's a stat that can help his case for team defense, he has a positive defensive +/- of 1.3

I find him as a Penny Hardaway, Brandon Roy type player.
Can play both guard positions, can pass, can shoot, can drive. Defense will be at least net 0. Also he is good enough that he could log big minutes for us next year. That could possibly be on par with both of our roster construction timelines. The IT4 and big Al win-soon timeline and Smart, Brown, BKN 18 pick timeline.
Sign me up.

thanks everyone,
as some have said, he is so smooth and effortless it is hard for me to gauge
marcus was a beast on his lfinal season mixtape and showed the kind of effort that was easy to judge-the kind that makes him a menace defensively
fultz is deceptive  he changes speed so smoothly-it looks effortless where Ball just pushes and pushes
everything is at a different speed almost frenetic

TP for that youtube link. He just jumped to No. 1 in my book!! That's on a Jaylen Brown scale of athleticism, but he clearly has a better handle and outside shot.  Would be sweet to land him. Our chances as of today are 20% so let's not count our chickens yet.

He initiates contact on drives, he doesn't back down and is aggressive going to his spots. All great scorers in the NBA have to be able to do that.

I hate teenagers but this guy combines athleticism and point guard skills with the actual ability to shoot. After guys like Simmons, Mudiay, and Smart, classic bricklayers, this is refreshing. He will likely be able to hit the floor running next year. That step back jump shot is wonderful.

  • Peace it's a board. We all will never agree.
He look Awesome when I saw him play. They say there are 8 guys that could go 1. Time will tell.
