That "The Little Guy" nickname has got to go.  It's degrading.  I don't even want to imagine the heart and the hard work someone his height had to put in to be where he is.  To be overlooked at every step and to have to work like hell to get something only handed to the next guy who didn't have to work nearly as hard.  I wouldn't be surprised to find out that he's the hardest worker in the NBA.  That Lebron's "you ain't even supposed to be here" commercial truly belong to Isaiah.

Needless to say, Isaiah Thomas is simply sensational.  We had a star on our hands all along and we didn't even know it.  Give him max (yes, HE IS A MAX player), give him all he wants, do whatever it takes to keep him.  I feel we don't appreciate him enough.  Playoffs may be a different story but that's because Danny hasn't made the move to add another star to the team.  That isn't on Isaiah.  Right now he's carrying this team on his back and he's been doing it for a while.  He is our superstar.  Give the guy his dues.  Here's to Isaiah...

Nah...

But TP regardless, very suitable tribute post for the NBA's biggest overachiever.

Agree the "little guy" nickname is super annoying and to me it seems degrading.  Little guy should be reserved for cute little kids under 10 years old.

I have to say when my wife watches the games with me she finds the "little guy" label pretty degrading also and feels that Tommy needs to change many of his phrases like "that's BOGUS". Who actually says that any more? I personally think that Tommy just forgets some of their names like when referencing an opponent like Anthony Davis he calls him the "big guy" because he forgets. Just my opinion and I don't think it's intentional on his part at all but agree the "little guy" really should go.

the way tommy says it does not denjgrate isaiah but elevates isaiah to the fraternity of greats that tommy has played with, coached or watched for decades
tommy and mike are in awe of the things isaiah can do-

red would love that tone of tommy's,so would johnny most-isaiah likes the killa gansta stuff
the little guy sounds like edgar g robinson ,james cagny in those old gangster films then there is baby faced nelson, pretty boy floyd, sundance kid
isaiah wants to be known as the best under 6 foot player ever

LOVE Tommy, but agree with others on the nickname. It's not so much that it is degrading as it is REALLY unoriginal. I am not saying he needs to have some complicated, obscure, difficult to say nickname, but 'Little Guy' seems a bit forced, boring, and not really indicative of what Thomas brings to the table.

What does he have to do be a max player?  What does he have to do that he isn't doing?

I don't know about the original poster, but giving IT a max deal (in length also) just doesn't seem like a smart move. He could be the hardest worker in the world, but at the end of the day he is still 5'9. I love the guy as much as the next guy, but going all in on IT (who yes does deserve a max contract) seems like the kind of move that we would regret for years to come.

Do you really want to be paying a 32 year old 5'9 shoot first pg 25-33 million dollars? Because that is what the tail end of his new deal would like like.

The 'little guy' nickname from Tommy is completely appropriate give that he is like 6'8" and is a foot taller than IT.

I believe that Isaiah takes a lot of pride in being, "The Little Guy".  He's referred to himself frequently as a "little guy" and has a very clear understanding of the history of other sub-6 foot players in the NBA.

All just speculation, of course.  No way to ever really know what is going on inside someone's head.
