Throw in 2 seconds!    And these guys for salary matching.   Means more playing time for Brown too.

2/3rds

And I don't want Howard. He'll want to post up and will gum up the offense.
If he could learn to embrace being a roll guy in pick and roll, he could be effective for us, but he's too set in his thinking that he's a superstar pound the ball center.

On the defensive end, Howard would be big. And rebounding. But I don't think we want to deal with the headache he'd cause on offense.

Though would being dumped by the Hawks for a second rounder be enough to make him swallow his pride and accept a different role here?

There's a big difference between the Hawks wooing him to go there and is being like, "ah, sure we'll take you for a second rounder."

I think everything we know about Dwight Howard suggests that would not be the way it'd play out.

If we can get him without giving up Smart, Jaylen, or the Brooklyn picks, which sounds like a definite possibility, I'm still all in for him, especially if we're not going to trade for a Noel type or if Boogie doesn't end up getting traded. If we could get him for something like Amir, Zeller, Rozier, and the Memphis pick, I say do it.

He's on an excellent, short-term contract, solves several of our weaknesses, and he'd elevate us to contender status, though certainly not the favorites. I'm totally fine with being a competitive contender for two years, while also developing our future core in Smart, Brown, and the two Brooklyn picks.

That gives us 1.5 years to evaluate that lineup of IT, AB, Jae, Al, and Howard. If in the summer of 2018 we decide it's not worth paying all of our guys, we reset and go young  like we did in 2013, only with a major head start this time around in a young core. You let IT and AB walk, trade off Al and Howard to the biggest payers, and you move forward building around Smart, Brown, and the Twix Brooklyn picks, which is already years ahead of normal rebuilds.

I think a 2nd sounds very light.

At the same time, I've seen proposals that include Smart plus multiple #1s. That sounds like a wild overpay to me.

Headline is funny, why not say 2/3 of GM's think Dwight is worth more than a 2nd Rd pick. The guy isn't very specific in what was being said here.

Really, it's pointless and proves little in what Dwight could be "had" for.

Kevin Arnovitz on Dwight Howard trade value: I did a poll among 12-15 execs, 10 of which said, “I don’t know, maybe a low second (round pick).

If that's the case I am all for Bringing him in. He would help a lot.
That sounds like something someone says as a joke.

I think it's funny when fans take statements from anonymous rival GMs as a definitive evidence of a player's trade value.

Players are worth what other teams are willing to take for them.
