with a torn labrum and shoulder surgery. Obviously, Riley is tanking, but didn't this happen against us on that awkward play with Horford? Winslow got whistled for the foul, I think.

I wouldn't be surprised if Whiteside started getting hamstring strains and stuff like that.

Dragic will be traded by the deadline.

I quite like Winslow, so sorry to see him out for the year. Always crappy to see talented young players who seem to be prone to injury.

They gave up 2 of their 1sts to get Dragic.  It will be interesting to see how much they can get for him now.

He's got 2.5 years left on a very reasonable deal given the contracts that have been handed out/will be handed out the next two years.  They should be able to get something similar.

Maybe Miami should go young and dump all their salary.  With Bosh's 23 mil off the books they still have WHiteside making 22 mil per year and 30 year old Dragic making 16 mil per year.

Maybe send Dragic to Philly for Okafor or something.  Helps Philly by giving them a vet who can shoot and should pair well with Ben SImmons when he returns.   Gives Miami a young center they can try to develop who is locked into the rookie salary for the next couple years.

Of course, then they should also trade away Whiteside.   What's his trade value?  He's a rebounder and shot blocker, but he makes a ton of money.  If we gave them the 17 mil of expiring contracts in Amir + Jerebko, gave them a couple prospects like Rozier and Young... maybe a late 1st... is it worth it?

I'm just thinkin if Miami decided to blow it up, get rid of their vets, develop some youngs, tank for a top pick and have tons of cap room heading forward, it might be a smart move for them.  Their 2018 pick is only Top 7 protected.  Bottoming out makes sense to me.

That trade is kind of crazy too many guys to Heat unless they release half their roster. I'd picture maybe just moving Whiteside and Dragic in off season for a TE, Okafor and draft pick. Also it allows 76ers to know more who they get in draft and if they even want Dragic. Decent try though.

Kind of makes you glad that MJ fell in love with Frank Kaminsky and wouldn't take the C's offer.  It's not clear which of our picks we would've given up, but Winslow, even healthy, has such a bad offensive game he hasn't been worth much.  He certainly can't hold Jae's jock.  As Ainge, I think put it, "Sometimes the best trades you make are the ones your didn't make".

Dragic is obviously gone, but Whiteside is a keeper and I can't remember that a team traded their top signing after 30 games, just be real guys...
but where Dragic will go, no one can tell. It would make sense for a team like pelicans or another borderline playoff team to get him

The kings, maybe? It seems like the type of deal they'd make now that they have Lawson and Collison

Or maybe the Bulls trade Rondo and a pick or two for Dragic? Reunite Wade and Dragic?
I'm bitter.

Tanking doesn't seem like Pat Riley's style.  Neither does trading your starting PG for picks.

I think Pat is targeting the summer 2017 FA class.

The Kings won't have a 1st to trade until 2021 if their 1st this year falls outside the top 10.

The PG draft class is really good, and they may see Tyler Johnson as a potential starting PG as well, so I could very much see Dragic moved.  The Heat could wind up with around $50 million in cap room to add players around Whiteside, Johnson, Winslow, Richardson, and their top 5 pick.  Milsap, Porter, and KCP are all viable targets, and Miami is capable of aiming bigger for someone like Griffin.

I don't see them tanking. That team played incredibly hard against us. I realize that was before the injury to Winslow, but don't think it is in their DNA.

Plus the depth of this coming draft is such is that even a later lottery pick (which is how they currently project out) will snare you a very good player.  Heck maybe even Giles.

They are not trading Whiteside.  Maybe Dragic for reasons pointed out by Saltlover.

Man, can you imagine playing Whiteside and Okafor together? That would be terrible. One of those guys would have to guard on the perimeter every single play. It would be a never ending stream of back cuts for easy lay ups and wide open 3's. Idk if a defense with those two could even switch at all.
