Well clearly C's aren't contenders but that doesn't mean they can't be playing better basketball. I think the bench needs stability and that means I'd move Crowder to the bench but in a Ginobli type quick sub. Also start playing Brown at SG off the bench. Brown is such a force at the 2. No more putting Smart at the 3, please. If you want Smart to guard a three on a switch that is fine but no small ball. Also I think Green's play would be bumped up. Playing with the starters means more open looks.

I'd like to see on average
PG- IT 34 mins, Smart 14 mins.
SG-AB 30 mins, Smart 10 mins, Brown 8 mins.
SF-Green 12 mins, Crowder 28 mins, Brown 8 mins.
PF-AJ 12 mins, Horford 14 mins, JJ 12 mins.
C- Horford 16 mins, KO 12 mins, Zeller 10 mins.

Hope C's try something like this before the trade deadline to at least see the group in different roles before attempting any trades. Sometimes the best trade is no trade.

I'm not a fan of these posts that look at Ginobili and start overthinking things.

Crowder is not the guy. Ginobili really shakes things up and imposes his will on the game. It makes sense to start focusing on Duncan in the post and then bring in Ginobili for some chaos. Jamal Crawford is similar, but less dynamic. Crowder is the opposite of that. He is a glue guy. He should be starting unless there is someone better.

A glue guy is what the bench needs. The bench often struggles yet when you saw Crowder with that group they knew they had help on both ends of the floor. They attacked and kept attacking on both ends. If they got in a jam Crowder was in the bail out spot. He got the ball and the offense reset without giving the defense time it was so fast. And of course his help d is a factor. I'm 100% behind Crowder being the leader of the bench.

The one thing I agree with, and something I've posted multiple times, is the idea of playing brown at the 2.  This idea runs contrary to what some want to do (i.e., small ball type lineup). Basically, I am tired to playing with mighty mites.  We have to be the smallest team in the league.  A physical advantage would probably help this team.

Haven't said that, this is not something that will make much of a difference this year because Brown simply is not ready.

I agree with Brown getting more minutes at the 2 than at the 4.  We are way too small most of the time on the court.  I liked the lineup of Smart / Brown / Crowder playing together at pg and wings.  If we are going to be so small /ineffective in the paint (zellar was great tonight i admit) lets try and use our big wings to a better advantage then.  Smart is so much better at the point than playing off the ball, and we need to get PT for Brown.

I like the idea of trying this out. A lineup of Smart/Brown/Crowder/Jerebko/Horford would be an interesting combination of big on the perimeter but skilled on the inside. The defense could switch just about everything without worrying too much. Definitely something work looking in to.

Has Brown played the 2 anytime this season? I'm try to recall and I'm drawing a blank.

That would be interesting, with him using his size, speed, and athletic ability to post up.

With Brown at the 2 and Smart at PG we'd have a normal sized backcourt. Can't have that.  ;D

That is almost exactly what they do now except the bench is a lite different on minutes but only slightly. C's need more change than that.

He did last night and looked like Wiggins doing it.

I'd rather see Zeller never play, but if you have to play him it makes the most sense to play him with Smart. He's the only PG that seems to be able to get him the ball in position for him to score

I've noticed this as well.  They have good chemistry together.  Smart finds Zeller.  Brown just needs to play more imo. He might not be ready yet.  Patience.  I agree Crowder isn't the most imposing guy who will break down a defense.
