What's the story with him being benched and playing so little to nothing last few games? Anybody have a clue? Is it just Smart's takeover or it's something else?

I think both Rozier and Brown were relied on too early due to our injuries. Now that the team is healthy and up to speed they can develop slowly.

While Rozier hasn't played as well as he had in preseason, I think the reason he is sitting is that Stevens realized that playing Green as the 4th guard was the key to getting more out of Smart on offense, and causes more problems for the defense overall.

Smart can bully point guards, but he has a harder time pushing around many of the two guards he was matching up against. Green gives you off the bench scoring like Rozier, but he's quite a bit taller, and forces teams to move their bigger guard off Smart.

I think during the year, rozier, green, brown,  smart, jonas and even zeller will help us to win games.  Its simply at this point rozier and browns minutes have gone down.   They will go up again.

I'm a Rozier hater.

I hate his game. I know he's talented and athletic, but I hate how much of a tunnel vision he has, and how he's a shoot first point guard with limited ability to throw even the easiest of passes. (He botched like 2 easy lobs/alley oop to Brown.)

That being said, he's a very young prospect with plenty of room to grow.

Rozier brings energy to the floor overtime he steps on it but he's been playing out of control so far this year. He's a straight chucker. He always shoots, good shot or not. Those two really bad passes to Jaylen I think were his only two passes to Jaylen that I've ever noticed during a game. I like Roziers rebounding and i like when he pushes the ball but his decision making, passing and lastly shooting are very very bad. They should send him down to D League for a stint and bring up Jackson.

Agreed.

I think DJax kind of sealed the fate on Rozier. He's the odd man out. I think Ainge really likes DJax, and so do I. After signing him to that rookie contract, while its useful and wise, shows commitment.

Rozier is a great player; don't get me wrong, and I love how skilled he is offensively especially on offense boards. But he gets picked off screens so easily, and doesn't show weight in his defensive potential.

100% this - smart on the ball always distributes before he shoots.  Off the ball it is the opposite.

He's improved this year. His shooting percentages are up, admittedly from putrid to merely bad, but still. His Ast/TO ratio is 3 to 1. He rebounds really well for his position.

I don't get the "chucker" label either. His usage rate is 10th on the team. He shoots about as often as Jae Crowder, who's nobody's idea of a chucker, and less than most of the regular rotation guys and starters.

He's had a bad month, to be sure (and shot more often than he has in the past). But young players have bad months.

I'm still hoping he's trade bait for something like a Noel trade.

Really ???????  Its pretty evident that Ainge is one of the biggest Rozier lovers on the planet. Rozier is his binkie from all the praise he heaped upon him this summer and at the start of the season. Jackson is a Stevens guy, and yeah, Ainge likes him, but he loves Rozier.

the kid was eating spaghetti sandwiches a year ago-he played d league for most of the season
he does get hung up on screens unlike smart and avery  but who doesn't-he is now in every teams scouting reports and now has to play nightly back to backs with pressure to score and defend
this was an exhausting schedule to break in an almost rookie

Not enough minutes in a game to give all these young bucks playing time. I'd personally love to see both he and Brown more but not at the expense of winning games.

Makes you wonder how much all these draft picks Ainge is hoarding are really worth.. It's really hard to determine value if a player is just going to rot away on the bench or get 4 minutes a game all season.

Agreed, but having Jackson as our 3rd string point guard would make me really worried about IT and Smart getting injured

In that case we could use Avery as our PG.
I'd say trade Rozier!
