That's two good games on the bounce for him. I was getting a little worried with the collection of DNP's he was starting to rack up -- Was equally apprehensive at the thought of his confidence consequently taking a hit.

He was really up for it tonight though, 19 points in 19 minutes off 7-10 shooting is good going!

Here's to him building on this momentum going forward 🍻

I liked Gerald, and was glad about the signing, but Jaylen should be playing those minutes. We need to develop that kid this year as much as possible.

i had expected green to put up a lot of games similar to this one. well, maybe not THIS one, but at least games with 10 points off the bench. that is something the celtics have lacked all year, a player who comes in and makes a bunch of points in a hurry.

let's hope green continues to play like this, smart and under control. if so, this team is looking good.

Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

I enjoyed seeing Gerald and Tony Allen on the floor at the same time.

TP, I agree...ah, the "good old days!"

Those "dark" days before the new Big Three was a fun time of hope and watching "the kids" with potential start to grow. I really enjoyed those times. (could take the whole family, all 6 of us, to a game $120 or less because the tix, especially against the bad teams weren't in demand).

TP right back at ya.

Gerald, Tony, Delonte, and Al Jefferson gave me hope and made me realize that Danny knew what he was doing.

I understand and agree with why they were traded but it made me pretty sad to see them go.

EDIT: I remember now TA wasn't traded he just wasn't re-signed.

Jaylen will develop regardless (if he's good enough).  But if green is better right now, I have no problem with him getting the minutes.

I think Gerald playing well is the best thing that could happen for Jaylen's development.  If he's a competitor, he'll raise his level of play to compete for those minutes.  He can be learning from Crowder, Green, and others in the process as well.  If we want to be a top team in the East, we need contributions from everyone.  Win-win in my book.

Minutes on the floor are EARNED, not doled out just because of a player's draft position.

Green is much more fluid athletically, a far better shooter and can finish at the rim unlike Jaylen at this point.  Green has also learned how to play defense at the NBA level now that he's been in the league for a few years while Jaylen continually shows lapses on the defensive end.

If Green can show consistency doing what he did tonight, he may cut into Crowder's minutes especially on nights when Crowder's shots aren't falling and give the C's another badly needed scoring option besides Bradley before IT starts playing hero ball which happens all to frequently because he thinks he's the only scoring weapon on the team.

No.  Jaylen can sit his azz down until he learns how not to play like Jeff Green.  Gerald Green is critical to our success.  I've always hated this ridiculous idea of building up a rookie at the expense of the team's success.  Don't get me wrong I don't agree with the philosophy of never-play-a-rookie but if a rookie is not ready to contribute tangibly from day 1, it's useless.  I still believe we should've traded that pick but oh well.

Yea, Brown can sit down or get few minutes here and there while he develops.  Until then we need someone who can make things happen on the court and that's where Green comes in.  To be honest I don't understand why Green has been DNP for most of the season but I couldn't be more glad to see him out there.

Oh.  Ok.  Thanks for the information.  I didn't know.

I didn't either until recently.  Probably not the sole reason he hasn't been playing, but it does appear to have been an issue for him.  Regardless, he looks good.  Jaylen will need to step it up now if he wants PT.  Win-win.

that hip flexor injury effects most basketball moves,
green knows how to get open
a player that frightens brad and has isaiah gushing over shooting ability is a piece boston was   missing
coming to a new team always has a learning period but missing pre season and that injury that effects core muscles is rough on a guy who is explosive
a standing ovation from me
i had just defended him and chronicled his recent dec 14 injury issues after looking up hip flexor and recovery time and what effects it had-
another standing ovation for his veteran leadership
a standing ovation for ainge and brad and celtic culture

Brad Stevens is going to play people who deserve to play.  If that is Jaylen, then fine.  Apparently GG is doing things in practice, and now on the court, that is forcing the issue.
