Guys like Sanders and Royce White don't have the mental ability to do the job of being an NBA player.  Psych issues or not, the job of playing in the NBA has requirements and these guys can't meet them.

You are right on the spot....TP

Chances are there is a team out there that would be willing to risk somewhere between $2-10 million to test him out. I doubt very much it would be Danny.

After watching KO and Zeller for too long, I'm up for it.

Larry needs to understand before too long, it won't matter if he wants to come back or not. Time will simply run out, and he'll be telling his rap fans, "I use to be a basketball player in my younger day."

Get off the "pot" Larry! The Celtics could really use you.

James Young isn't doing anything for us as the 15th man on the roster, hence I would rather give the spot to Larry Sanders as he might be able to solve some of our rebounding issues.
Jack of all trades, master of none.

If he were to get off the pot, why would he choose the Celtics? Seems like the only reason why he would consider Boston is the legalization of marijuana in MA.

That wouldn't matter. It would still be against NBA rules.

well, there might be more reasons than this. sanders appears to be an intelligent, if eccentric, and having a team that "appreciates" him and clearly defines his role might be attractive.

the celtics are a well run team. they have the potential to move into the elite-team category in the next few years (we all pray).

as a team and franchise, the celtics are attractive to a number of players i think.

A 1 year veteran minimum prove it deal?  I think that could work, but who do we cut to make room for Sanders if he actually calls up Danny?

"Sanders, who describes himself in the 5-minute video as a person, a father, an artist, a writer, a painter, a musician and sometimes a basketball player, explained that as someone who had come from nothing, he was not equipped to deal with his newfound wealth."

It appears that anxiety and depression were two major factors that led Sanders to leave the NBA. Perhaps, Danny could pitch the Celtics as therapy relief...no pressure to win. Just to be himself (sans the marijuana).

Think about it.... Larry could have the benefit of the area's finest schools/teachers in the world to help him develop into the artist he wants to be. He could look at many of the Celtic players as artists who might inspire him. For example, Isaiah is a wizard with the ball, Jae Crowder works harder than anyone, Avery Bradley can't be far behind.

They could teach him the importance of focus and how it makes them more creative and better at what they do. Marcus combines brute strength, artistry and toughness, Jaylen is the cerebral type...I'm sure he could relate to Larry's poetry and creativity, Kelly at 7 feet used to play point guard, plus his father was a coach, Al Horford has the artist persona and he speaks fluent Spanish, James Young and him would definitely connect on the musical level, Jonas Jerebko is a video game enthusiast...surely a creative match there.

Granted the idea of Larry Sanders signing with the Celtics could be nothing more than hocus pocus. On the other hand, playing with the Celtics could once again unleash his defensive creativity(genius) and hanging with the  players and working/associating with other Boston artists could provide the poetic synergy he craves.

I couldn't find the most recent thread on him, so feel free to merge it.

On Nov 10 he retweets a post of 4 leaf clover

https://twitter.com/OGJOSHH/status/796790513663934464

This handle he retweeted is someone who posted a celticsblog tweet in early december

On Nov 11 he post highlights of a monster game he had against the c's in Boston in 2012

https://twitter.com/l8show_thegoat/status/797150180680138753

On Dec 24(Xmas eve)

He posts he will be in Boston for the new year . coincidentally he tweeted it to 18show_thegoat, the same handle he tweeted his highlights to on Nov 11. I couldn't find that handle on twitter, but sounds like a Boston fan from the handle?

Dec 28 says he had a great workout, 3 days before he is going to be in Boston

Dec 30 he talks about being the best shot blocker in the league before he left.

Also included Boston in his pole for which team he should sign with back in the Summer.

I know this is all speculation, but I would rather sign sanders than give up Assets for someone like Bogut or Millsap

If there is anything at all to this it would be fantastic. Sanders would address our rebounding and interior defense needs big time. He would fit so well next to Horford.

Hypothetically if he did decide to sign somewhere, it would be this summer right? Or after this summer (next year)?

Man I would LOVE to see Larry Sanders in Boston. Hoping the great coaching and guys like Horford and IT can help positively influence Sanders as well.

I think if he wants to, he can theoretically sign at any time. Vet min for the rest of the season to see if he still has it and if he can stay focused is all most teams would be willing to give him.
