I can safely say the time to relax is over.

Why?  Because the Celts are on track to finish in the middle of the Eastern Conference playoff picture?  Because they look good enough to make the second round if they have decent luck and health, but go no further than that?

That doesn't shock me.

The record isn't quite what I expected -- they're only on track for 44 wins right now -- but otherwise it's mostly what I thought, except that they're better on offense than defense.

I honestly feel like people don't understand injuries and how they impact a team.

  • Peace it's a board. We all will never agree.
When are starters play 10 games in a row together and we look like we did against the raptors I will worry. There are some Centers out there on the market. The question do we try to make  minor move for the EFC or hold or Assets till we get a star to make the finals. If Toronto loses a guard or Cleveland lose a player we are right there to make the final if we play up to our level we have this season. Tomorrow night against the Spurs will show us a great deal.

So is that why they lost to Detroit and the Pelicans. You can keep using excuses for this team haha but it's clear they can't beat any contender.

Injuries are a significant issue in every sport, and the Celtics have had more than their fair share, but still I wonder: If the Celtics can "win" the first 45-46 minutes of a game against a good opponent, shouldn't they be able to win the last 2-3 minutes?

Injuries have really hurt, but injuries are to be expected and there isn't anything we can do about them.

The injuries have exposed our lack of depth by thrusting young guys into roles they aren't yet ready for. We will need young guys like Brown, and Rozier to develop for us to have sufficient depth this season (that or trade for a depth piece).
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Having a good half court offense w/ above average shooting would tend to indicate yes.

At the same time, bottom of the league futility on the boards and relatively few trips to the line would tend to indicate no.

Yes the excuse will be IT did not play versus the Spurs tonight. We are the 10th best in most power rankings. Hope is eternal, Dec 15th is Thursday. If some trades happen maybe we will get a player that will help.

The facts are these:

We can't rebound.

Our shooting is as improved as Horford is hot on any given night.

The second unit struggles to score, doesn't defend well, doesn't rebound at all and can't move the basketball.

And, apparently, we are injury prone.

We are what we are - probably a little worse than last year at this point.

Agreed with most of this.

I think the rebounding has been less of an issue than it was earlier in the season.

Agreed on the second unit, I think we need to add a rotation player via trade unless Rozier or Brown really improve as the year goes along.

Right not we are one game worse than we were at this point last season. However, the C's were 19-19 at one point last year so I'd be surprised if we aren't better than last year after 38 games.

Yeah, these comments tend to support this thesis. Funny thing is that Celticsblog posters would also be the same ones to point to other teams missing stars when we beat them. Funny how that works.
