Such a good player.  I wonder about having a Bradley/Horford window.

Bradley is a conundrum. I'm not so sure Ainge should be so quick to let him walk or trade him. His defense and scoring is vicious when you combine him with Smart. I don't think Fultz is a better 2 way player than AB. I like this 4 guard rotation of IT, AB, Smart and Rozier.  You get defense and scoring.

I would seriously consider trading the Nets pick for a stud SF/PF/C.

That's just me.

We can't really predict trades so I still think he could be traded.

But I don't think Danny wants to re-create what he did with Tony Allen, which is let a perennial 1st Defense talent walk away for nothing.

Hope we sign Avery long term, and draft forward in 2017 (Jackson), and center in 2018 (Ayton or Bamba).

We will never get the return value in a trade of Avery that we would get by keeping him long term.

He plays the kind of "balls to the wall" defense that is inspiring. The people who have to play against him, know how great he is.

Is that really a good thing though? considering how fast they fizzled out?

Not sure I understand what this means.  Putting too much stock in a good, not great player?

If so, I think people here probably know that AB is contributor, not a star (though he may get to an ASG).  I'd gladly package Avery with other assets for a better player (I expect that to happen), but if Avery is still here after we pick up a superstar, then I'm good with that. Love his game and his work ethic.

Re: JoJo comparison - maybe.  I heard JoJo White era games on the radio much more than I saw him, but he was my favorite player growing up and the first image that comes to mind of him matches up with Johnny Most's most frequent call for him "JoJo stops, pops, bang."  The first image that comes to mind of Avery is the relentless badger-like defense.
Both sort of play a 3rd/4th wheel role but JoJo was a great complimentary shooter who got good looks because the C's had Hondo, Cowens, Charley Scott...  unlike Bradley he was not the quintessential aggressive defender.

Jo Jo far more valuable to Celtic teams in 70's than Scott, whom we got one decent year out of in 75-76 season following trade of Westphal. Funny how Westphal later traded for Dennis Johnson, who was later traded to Celts for Robey. Another steal by Auerbach. Full circle.

Hold on there...

We only need 8 players and some spares; we can't keep everyone, even all the good ones. TA was
Looking for a long term deal and DA wasn't going long on role players,  mostly Bradley made TA expendable, just as Smart might squeeze Bradley off th roster at some point.

When fully fit AB can defend and average 19 points pg. Neither TA or Smart bring that. Plus his rebounding. Improved assists. Smart may get there but AB is an asset you want atm.

For the type of players that require a lot of screen-dodging, defending an off the dribble action, KCP and CP3 are the only ones that come to mind being on ABs level. Not counting in the wings (like Kawhi) that can cover guards.
As for Smart, if my life was on the line, then I'd only trade him for Draymond and Gobert cause it is so hard to find a healthy and sane defensive leader.

I don't think the Celtics have a player who is untradeable.  I think it depends on each deal.
However, Its hard to think you can find someone who plays defense like Avery Bradley.
He has worked hard to improve his offensive game, which is totally underrated. And he moves without the ball.
