Not sure about this one. Curious to hear what people think..

I think he played good enough to earn some more minutes. I would like to see him get about 10-15 min per game right now, and I expect him to earn even more down the season.

He's just doing fine. I'm starting to see how Brad handle the rookies.

1st year = let them learn how to play in the system first.
2nd year = bring them in the rotation regularly
3rd year = take over inferior/departed talents on the rotation depth

Smart already leaped in the rotation during his rookie year due to his high BB IQ and figuring out the rotations and set of plays early. If you can't figure the play sets, you are stuck with the 1st year procedure until you figured it out. (See James Young)

I wish he got some more playing time. Amir has been next to useless recently, it wouldn't really hurt that much to give some of his minutes to Jaylen.
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

you vs. the guy she tells you not to worry about

smart got lots of minutes as a rookie.  I think Jaylen is just too raw right now.

And I already told why. Smart have an NBA ready body and game. He just need to improve some aspects of his game.

I think its more
1. give them a few chances
2. let them earn consistent minutes
3. allow them to fill roles in team

really its not a step by step process at all. You give a guy the minutes that he earns in practice and in the minutes he gets. If Jaylen Brown starts playing like a stud hes gonna get more and more minutes untill he forces a decision with Crowder. If Rozier starts balling same thing with Smart.

Jaylen already shown flashes of brilliance in the offensive end. Its the defense that he needs to work on. There are times that he was caught just standing around and ball watching or tends to get caught by pump fakes and leave his man open to overhelp. Brad treats rookies like its an OJT.

His offense is pretty weak right now as well.  He's got a lot of work to do.  It's going to take him time.  A few years from now he can be a really good player, though.

Honestly, for the most part, Jaylen looks like he has no idea what's going on out there.

I'm sure they want to give him minutes but he looks like he started playing basketball 6 months ago.

I'm worried about Jaylen. You CAN'T miss with the #3 pick.

The NBA schemes, especially defensive, are so complex...it's going to take time.

And there is very little practice time during the season.

I think he's probably guessing a lot, just like Myles Turner admitted recently.

If this was tank job, he'd be playing much more.

But the Celtics have better options at the moment...Crowder & Smart.

I'd love to see Jaylen have a game soon where Brad extends his minutes.  Jaylen is not productive right now and there are 2 guys on the bench who could be producing more than JB if given the minutes (GG and JY).  I like that CBS is giving the minutes to JB but this won't be happening after the all-star break if Jaylen's productivity doesn't improve.  I think/hope it will.

I love Brad and always defend him, and I can understand not playing Jaylen in the 4th, but it's on him to be giving him more than 4 or 6 minutes.

I know NBA rotations and schemes are difficult, I know it's gonna take Jaylen 1 1/2 years or more to have the game slow down, but he needs legitimate playing time for that to happen. 5 minutes a game is not enough. He's gotta be playing 10-15 minutes of real PT on this team.
