Is it just me or has the NBA been particularly hard on the Celtics this year in terms of their scheduling?

I can't recall a time the Celtics had so many home/road back to back nights and they've already had four in a very young season..
You have to imagine this grueling schedule is a major part of some of Stevens suspect rotations. between this and all the injuries I think the Celtics are lucky to be above .500 right now.

vs. Nets next day @ Chicago
vs. Chicago next day @ Cleveland
Vs Knicks next day @ Indiana
vs. GS next day @ Detroit

of course, the way to answer your question is to total up the number of back-to-backs for each time in the nba, then rank them.

you know, something such as this:

I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

TP - so the answer is technically yes - tied for 2nd most back to backs throughout the course of the season.

As far as this early in the season, it does seem a bit peculiar to have so many home games followed by road games the next night. Things will even out a little bit, though, and we finally seem to have our rotation back in order. Hopefully we can take these next few games (that we should win) and have a more respectable record.

LOL.  First, they technically have the third most, though sincs more than two teams have more than 17, they're aren't tied for third.

And I'm going to guess that 17, which looks like the mode, is also the median number of back to backs.  So basically, we're close to the middle.

Yeah, was lazy on my viewing and missed the 18s. But, I will stand by my second point - the home/aways have been plentiful this early in the season and we are now better equipped to handle it as the season progresses.

thanks for the tp and one back to you.

on your points, not sure they are exactly correct. the celtics are tied for third most back to backs in the nba with 17 of them. atlanta has 19 and 3 teams have 18.

also, the celtics have 17 back to backs, but then so do 9 other teams. so, 13 teams out of 30 have as many or more back to backs as do the celtics. or, put another way, 14 out of 30 teams have 17 or more back to backs - almost half of the nba teams.

the celtics have more back to backs than most teams, yes. but it is not the worst schedule.

EDIT: just read droopydog's post and he beat me to this. tp to him for his speed!  ;D

My speed is a result of ball parking the numbers.  TP for taking the time to actually present the numbers.

My speed is looking at the numbers and evidently not being able to read them correctly, at all. Then having everybody point that out to me. Great start to my morning on CB  :P
