The Nets are clearly not a great team, but they have a respected coach now and nothing to gain by tanking, since we own their draft picks the next 2 years. If they continue to be competitive and win enough games to drive that pick down to the double digits, does the "treasure trove" of valuable, trade-able assets all of a sudden not look very valuable?

I bring this up as, the timing of trading this pick (which is what it would seem Danny has wanted to do with it) is tricky. I'm not sure what kind of offers he already may have gotten and scoffed at, but I wonder how much value the '17 and '18 pick from Brooklyn will actually have as the season plays out...

Nothing is guaranteed, not even the Nets being one of the worst teams in the league...

I have yet to here one NBA expert change their opinion on the Nets being one of the least talented teams in the NBA.

Teams go on hot streaks.  Give it time.   I am sure the nets will drop from their surprising .364 winning % as other teams currently below them go on hot streaks.

So, it is to early to devalue the picks in trades

The Nets are playing well right now, but there are a bunch of teams worse than them in the standings who should end the season with more wins than Brooklyn.

Minnesota, Denver, Washington, Dallas should all finish the season with more wins than Brooklyn. An argument can be made that Miami, New Orleans, and Sacramento could end the season better than Brooklyn.

They are playing really hard, which means that they will get more wins than their talent indicates, but I still think they aren't very good.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Same could be said about the Celtics over the past 2 years.   >:(

I'm open to the idea that the pick could fall in the 5-10 range instead of it being a lock for top 3. However, this class is lauded for its depth at the top of the Draft. I'm not too worried.
Isaiah, you were lightning in a bottle.

Nets have a bumpy schedule coming up...

Thunder - Struggling and could use a win
Blazers - Better overall team, should win easily
Celtics - Struggling and could use a win
Pacers - Struggling and could use a win
Kings - Toss up
Clippers - Better overall team, should win easily
Bucks - Better team
Bucks - Better team

The nets should in theory lose 6 or 7 of those 8 games but they play so [dang] hard I say they lose 5 of those games. I would say this pick ends up being 5-7 which in all honesty isn't bad it's not great but i'll take it.

Ever since the Perk deal and CP3 after math I don't bank on future pick projections. Everyone forgets Perk was dealt for Green and a likely top 5 pick. Well Clippers traded for CP3 and the pick became garbage. Anything can happen to change where a pick ends up.

That pick had protection on it -- top 10 I think.  Still fell a good deal lower than we expected, but top 5 was not a realistic expectation.

It did but it had a good roll over. Clippers were a mess with one bright spot Griffin it was well expected they would be in lottery a while till CP3 came along.

We're is all this sky is falling stuff for the Nets coming from? Did people expect them to start 0-11 (I do realize they started 0-7 last year). 6 of their 11 games have been against teams that were in the lottery last year and only ourselves and Clippers would be considered above average playoff teams. 4 of their games were against teams that were among the worst in the league last year (Knicks, Lakers, Timberwolves and Suns) and 5 of their first 7 (when they went 3-4) were at home.

Serious question, what did people really think they would be at this point in the season? I probably figured they would 3-8 instead of 4-7. That would be a 22 win pace during an easy stretch of their schedule. Are we freaking out cause they won 1 more game? Or do we just want them to lose more?

Amen.  TP.  I'm sure there were at least 3-4 11 game stretches last year where the Nets won 4 games.  And, geez, that's only 30 win pace. They are a scrappy bunch, but there were last year too.

Ainge has zero b@lls.
Picks should have already been moved for veteran talent.
No way in he//, all 29 other Teams had zero interest in those picks this past off season

The days of Franchise type talent in the draft is gone. Players leave College way to early thus it takes much longer for a player to develop "if" he ever does..

Elite Teams in the NBA don't worry about picks or stashing picks, they obtain proven Players!

LeBron came out of high school. And then there are guys like KAT, Wiggins and AD that seem to have bright futures

Nets are still very bad, and will be having a fire sale at the trade deadline. Sean Marks knows this is all fools gold (as much as a 4-7 start can be considered "gold" to begin with). They will dump assets for picks and youth to build for 2019 and beyond.

Besides, at the time of the trade the nets projected to at least be a perennial playoff team. The Nets' catastrophic organizational collapse has really been a best-case scenario for us.
