Abdel Nader looking VERY good in D League (add one grain of salt and stir)

I like him in the D-League for a year. He has a chance to lead that team every night which is the best scenario for him to improve. I'd rather that than him cheering from the sidelines for the rest of the year, which is what would happen if he moved up to the Celtics

Nader is a weird one to place.

Guys like Manny Harris or Phil Pressey should be dominating the D-League. After all, they're in the prime of their careers with NBA experience. There's no excuse for them to NOT be dominating.

Then there are the really young kids like James Young the past couple of years. They're learning the game, had little college experience, still growing mentally and physically, etc. You can excuse those guys for not dominating.

Nader doesn't fit either category very well. He's a 23 year old 4 year college senior so you'd think he should dominate. But then again he never dominated in college. He played two years in the MAC, transferred, sat out a season and put up similar middling statistics at Iowa State.

I don't know what to make of him at this stage. He really is an unknown. I certainly wouldn't clear a roster spot for him at this juncture but if he continues to dominate in the D-League then perhaps...

i have to gone back to his chicago days in high school and then iowa state-nader has showed a steady improvement in his game
nader is the type that will play well in a team concept-
he is not explosive like jaylen but he has that elite 7-1 wing span which he knows how to use
he needs to be a deadly three point shooter and defensively he has strength, length and lateral to not be a liability-
he is surprisingly good with his left hand and has good dribble skills-he is a complimentary player not a go to guy to create -but can take what is given
a year in d league learning nba tricks and honing his shot and coming off screens
i think he has mindset and ability to become a very good 3 point shooter that is not afraid to attack closeouts- it was said he has 40inch vertical by red claws announcers, if it is he doesn't use it on dribble drives but he has such length he doesn't need too
he is smooth and heady,maybe he should work on quickness drills along with dribbling ,thats good but can be better-

Everyone has a right to their own opinion, but it really bothers me when fans say we need to send the young guys to the DLeague so they can get better, but in their next breath say the DLeague is terrible, the competition is terrible and all the players suck.
As far as Nader goes, he was exceptional in his final year in college, exceptional at Portsmouth, exceptional in summer league and now is torching DLeague!  What do you want from the guy?  "Well it's only the DLeague", "well it's only summer league", "well.... blah, blah, blah!  He's got a great skillset that most young players don't, plus the physical tools to make the best of them!  If James Young could dribble with his off hand as well as Nader he might become a player.  As it is now Nader is already MUCH better than JY.  Nader was better in SL than JBrown, DJackson, Yabusele and most of the other players in SL for that matter.....so why isn't he on this team?  He's a great shooter, can take it strong to the basket with either hand, and for his size rebounds well and can block an occasional shot, but "he won't make those shots in the NBA"?  Really?  Most NBA defenders aren't all that great.  Most are lazy!  The really talented offensive players score against anybody, but obviously have more difficulty with the LBJ's, the Avery Bradley's, etc.
Why not give him a chance to excel at the next level, as it seems he's been able to do it at every level he's been through!  It just really bugs me he's not been given the chance when we have at least five or six players already on our team that he's better than!

I think you are totally underestimating how good the defense is in the NBA as compared to the DLeague.

Scoring is nice, but what really matters for his future success is his ability to defend.  Brad Stevens won't let anyone shoot their way into more playing time.
