Amir was manhandled by Gortat all night long. Many times he was just dismissed with one hand. Amir needs to be replaced asap he looks 40 years old. You can't count on Jerbco, or Zeller to help you on the boards, both are poor rebounders. 52 to 30 in rebounds tonight...total disaster.

This rebounding problem is on Danny... he knew when Sully wasn't signed he was loosing the teams best rebounder, on a team that was out rebounded all year long. Horford is an ok rebounder, but he's injured, the chickens have come home to roost.

IT is scoring points, but he's not getting anyone else involved, spacing looks terrible. Again...this team has tiny guards that get swallowed up, and have to jump pass to continue moving the ball. Smart needs to find his way to the starting lineup.
IT had 10 assists

questions to ponder at this point:
- did we overachieve last year leading to overestimating what the team could achieve this year?

I still don't think so. people have said for the past 2 years now that we "overachieved". I think this team just played hard and had a good gameplan every night last year.

- Were Sully and Turner bigger pieces of this team's ability to win than many people gave them credit for?

yes. I thought Turner was the bigger piece, but if the rebounding continues, maybe Sully was the bigger piece? (hah)

- are we just plain mediocre?

i hope not.
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

I swear I saw Jerebco attempt to set a screen on defense. Did anyone else see that late 3rd or early 4th quarter?

And also shot 6-18, while Brown attempted only 2 shots

the one positive is listening to tommy is so refreshing.  he understands what this team has to do as far as blocking out their man. When Crowder and Horford come back it will be a different story as well.  Plus he thinks Kelly will start on this team.  I agree with him. Amir is better served off the bench at this point.  KO at least came out shooting it too.

Brad Stevens also echoed those same sentiments.  I much rather when there is an experienced person in the broadcast booth though.  Listening to A Sherrod and guys like that get really tiring listening to trade talk all the time.

Yeah, the overachieving narrative doesn't make any sense to me.

Rebounding is definitely more of an issue than I thought it was, but our bigs being out and Amir rapidly regressing has really hurt us, along with losing Turner and Sully in that regard. I think rebounding is really the main area where losing those two hurts us, because they were both good rebounders.

And I don't think it's us not being as good as we thought either. We're clearly playing terrible ball and losing to really bad teams. It's a combination of things, but I think we've lost that defensive intensity a bit combined with missing guys and it being early in the season.

We definitely need an upgrade at the big position, though, and it needs to happen relatively soon. We're going to continue to lose games playing end of the bench bigs as starters who can't get a rebound to save their life.

Lots of talk postgame about the team not having its swagger.

Last year, Jae said something exactly like that, how we had lost our swagger. We went on a good run after he said that. So, let's hope this is the same thing.

When Durant didn't sign here, Danny showed that he was in no rush to complete the roster with sub-par players on bad contracts.

Obviously we need rebounding and toughness down low. Horford is an upgrade over Sully, but he is out and Amir just isn't the same player this year (at least not yet). We all know that Zeller's thing isn't toughness.

I think Danny will try to upgrade the center position minimally at some point this year, but only to give the impression that we are really competing. This summer will he will try to make one last big FA splash before truly building a complete team.

I really hope I am not giving too much credit to Danny here.

So, we're now dead last in:

Defensive rating

Defensive rebounding percentage

Total rebounding percentage

Hmm, we need defense and rebounding. Too bad there's not an excellent rebounding defensive big on a team on the trade block on a team that desperately needs to trade him!  >:(

I'd like to add another big man.  I think most people do.  It's about the price though probably.  After Horford we are really lacking there.  Hopefully Kelly does well.  Zeller and Amir have really shown very little so far.  Mickey hasn't done much either.

I mean, but who are we going to get in free agency? Griffin? I highly doubt he comes here. Milsap? Would we be substantially better than the Hawks of last year?

Noel is available now and would allow us to control his destiny this summer, and he's a perfect fit for what this team needs right now.

Not a huge Noel fan, but, it looks increasingly like it'll be necessary to made that deal.

T-Rob is rotting on the Laker's bench. I think he is very affordable at this point and would cost almost nothing.

I'm a fan of his.  Hustle guy too. He always seems to play well then disapear.  I don't know if it's just playing time or what.
