Overall pretty decent news:

1) KO is now listed as questionable for tomorrow, and he could possibly make his debut at home against the Nuggets. Brad says it all depends upon how he feels tomorrow. This is a good sign, because he was expected to be out until mid-November.

2) Crowder is progressing a bit faster than anticipated. Brad says he won't be ready in the next couple of days, but by later this coming week he could be ready to go.

3) Unfortunately, though, Horford is already out for tomorrow's game. Should be good to go after that.

Ultimately, I expect to see KO and Horford play on Wednesday at Washington, and even if KO does play tomorrow, I'm guessing he'll only get a couple minutes of burn to ease him back into things. Hopefully Jae will be back and ready to go for our double-header versus the Knicks and Pacers next Friday and Saturday.

This is great news. We are going to get burned by bad teams if Amir doesn't step it up. We need to keep our heads above water for a little bit longer. Hopefully Kelly surprises us. It is his fourth year. Everything has been pointing to this year as his welcoming party to the NBA above average rotation club.

Jaylen Brown is a revelation. I hope Marcus can have a breakout game on offense before Crowder gets back. It's wrong to expect Isaiah to shoulder an Allen Iverson load. He needs to save some energy for defense. Thomas is most dangerous when everyone is involved or else he is susceptible to making bad turnovers.

Isaiah is clutch. Treat him like you do Horford and make sure he is healthy when it counts.

I am about ready to give up on Gerald Green. I am seeing how he tends to stick out as a ball hog. I think he can find a niche like Crawford and Thornton did, but he needs to be efficient on offense or he is no better than RJ Hunter.

There's a lot going on.

Bradley's making yet another leap? There is no such thing as a ceiling?
Is Marcus Smart truly a top player from his draft year?
Olynyk, even his detractors are curious.
Jaylen Brown. It's not about how good, but how great is he?

I don't want to talk about Zeller, Jerebko and Green. Those guys are built for the playoffs or for depth during the long year.

The next couple games could be crucial for ending up with a sixty win season. If we weather the storm, we could be sitting pretty and a big threat to elite teams.

I think at full strength we can beat the Cavs. We'd wear them down by the end. We wouldn't dominate. They'd have to be gritty wins. There's no way to stop great players like James and Irving when they are on fire. But maybe by the end of the year our guys will be comparable or cancel them out.

Is Horford on the right team at the right time?
Could Amir have a chip on his shoulders? Someone called his game poo-poo. It was ridiculous. A guy like Amir Johnson is precisely what you want for a championship contender. He is better than PJ Brown was and is still fairly young.

Separate Horford and Amir for starters. I think that is the obvious move and will happen once players are back and not rusty anymore.

I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

Horford minor update:

Yeah, he was ruled out already yesterday by Stevens.

Does it always take this long to get through concussions in the NBA? I remember back in my mma days getting a couple of concussions, and I was always back training two or three days later, though that probably wasn't the safest method.  ;D

if KO is going to play sooner than expected I want him ready and able to actually play. not just another body to put out there, I don't want to hear "he's not playing well right now because of the injury" or "he's still coming back" or "he's still working through the injury". I feel like there's always an excuse for KO.

So, some not-so-good news. Horford isn't progressing in the concussion protocol and didn't practice today, so his status for Wednesday is up in the air at the moment. As for KO, both KO and Brad have been very hesistant about him playing on Wednesday. We might once again be extremely short handed, which isn't good against a Washington team full of athletic and penetrating perimeter players.

Horford and Crowder did not make the trip to DC, so they're both for sure out for tomorrow's game against Washington. Crowder was expected, but it wasn't clear whether or not Horford would play.

KO did make the trip, though it's still a gametime decision on whether he plays or not.

I'm starting to get concerned about Al. This is seemingly taking a much longer time than normal with concussions. Tomorrow will be 9 days since it originally happened.

Yeah, this seems like a long time for Horford.  Maybe it is just that we are anxious for him to get back to normal?  How long does it normally take to be cleared?

Whoever hit him must have really hit him!

I hope they aren't hiding anything else from us.

9 days is a while, but it's not crazy.  Baseball, for example, has a minimum of 7 days you have to sit out.  Most NFL concussions result in at least missing a game.  Considering that teams don't practice until Wednesday, that would mean 10 days from concussion to practice for most of them.

Concussions are rarer in the NBA, but I personally wouldn't be worried until it's 2 weeks that he hasn't been cleared for anything.  (Aside from the general worry of a concussion.)

That said, as I'll be at the game tomorrow, I'm personally disappointed in the injuries.  There's nothing I like more than beating down the Wizards fans, many of whom still think they have a better team.  And I love watching Crowder play in person.

Kevin O'Connor tweeted that players with concussions in the NFL miss an average of 16 days. So Horford is still within that timetable.
