Is it a certainty that the Kings are shopping Cousins around?

I think it's a certainty they've talked to the Suns about it, but it's uncertain whether they are truly looking to deal him.

A lot can change in the next few weeks though.

Warriors beating Kings 28-24. Should be an easy win for them.

BUT Cousins has 12 points and 7 rebounds and the first quarter hasn't ended yet.

Just a thought, but if we want to beat the Warriors a few years from now when it counts most, we could use some size to help create mismatches. Cousins seems to always give them a mismatch and he performs well against them.

Something to keep in mind for this trade deadline or this summer.

The reported offer from Phoenix was TJ Warren, Alex Len, and their 1st rounder (plus salary filler).

We can beat that offer easily with Bradley, KO and BKN 17... none of whom are contributing much right now.

Bradley > Warren (same years on contract)
KO = Len (Both free agents)
BKN 17 > PHX 17

Throw in another non-Brooklyn pick and we'd be forcing Phoenix to cough up Booker, Bender etc to stay in it- which they won't.

Yeah, this is the second close game against the Warriors they've had this year, and Boogie has been instrumental in both of them. He just provides such a huge mismatch for them that they can't deal with him. They have Green guarding him, which he just can't do due to limited size, and that forces them to double team him, which doesn't really work due to how good of a passer as Cousins is.

And Green misses the wide open three and Kings win.

I don't entirely mind though. Seeing the Warriors lose is pretty nice lol.

Kings will go back to losing again..

Greaaaaattttttt. They lose to the 2nd worst team in the league last night; they beat the best team in the league tonight.

There's no way that that irrational lunatic Vivek is going to trade Cousins now. Hell, he's probably still going all out for that 8th seed thinking, "Well, now that we've beat them once..." He'll probably have Vlade trade their future picks now for upgrades to try and make the playoffs.  ::)

W for Sac vs GSW in OT.

DMC: 12 rebs, 9 assists, 32 pts (13/30 FGs), 7 TOs.

In the part of the game I watched, he looked rly good despite a few sloppy plays (a technical foul, an easy rebound sent out of bounds).

I agree...this hurts the chances of Boogie being traded.   :-[

Joeger trying to raise Boogie's value

http://www.thescore.com/nba/news/1227157-joerger-cousins-growing-as-a-leader-technical-threshold-a-good-challenge

Too funny .   It would be like me going all day long and never even thinking a curse word .   As I chop my finger with kitchen knife ....." oh darn "   LOL  ;D

Should be bets over / under how long Boogie can go before getting his next technical.

I m thinking he won't make 10 games   :D

Unfortunately I think the days of this thread being a daily destination have ended in the last week. The Kings just want their 4th straight and continue to be right in the playoff chase 1.5 games back of a banged up Denver team. Even if they lost the next couple of games there would be no reason to trade him at this point at the trading deadline. That being said I hope they do make it. It would be more entertaining first round matchup against Warriors than other matchups most likely.

I guess you're right.

I really don't get Cousins. I don't know why this guy wants to stay in SAC.

Is he delusional, or does he really just not care about winning? No matter how much you can trust and give someone the benefit of the doubt, especially if their new, doesn't mean jack squat to me if I'm a competitor. I would get tired of hearing the same things, and probably would want quick results.

Quote
DeMarcus Cousins plans to sign an extension with the Kings this summer, he said on an interview with ESPN’s SportsCenter that was relayed by the network’s Ramona Shelburne. Cousins indicates he’s happy in Sacramento and would like to spend his entire career there, Shelburne continues.

Cousins can sign a five-year extension worth up to $219MM. He’s making $16,957,900 this season and $18,063,850 next season in the final year of his current deal.

A report surfaced last month that Kings management would try to lock up Cousins when the new designated player extension becomes available after the new Collective Bargaining Agreement goes into effect in July. With Cousins now on board to sign that extension, the possibility of the big man getting traded before this month’s deadline seems even more remote.

Cousins has in the past been critical of Kings management but appears to believe they will make the necessary moves to turn the franchise into a contender. GM Vlade Divac has taken steps recently to convince Cousins that he wants him to remain the franchise player for years to come.

Cousins is optimistic about the team’s playoff chances despite the season-ending injury to second-leading scorer Rudy Gay last month.

“I think we’re on the right path this season,” Cousins said. “We’re playing the best basketball of the season so far. Our team is extremely confident.”

He’s averaging 27.8 PPG and 4.8 APG — both career highs — along with 10.6 rebounds this season.

Well I've always said if he does re-sign, it doesn't mean he's completely 100% going to stay. It does give the Kings more leverage, and allows them to establish a well more defined price without having to cut down the price due to a one year contract.

Honestly, the way things sound with Vivek running the Kings, I don't think it was ever really a possibility. I don't know if he would've traded him at any cost. It would've required a trade request and an increasingly hostile and toxic environment to force him to trade Cousins, which I just don't see happening. I think Boogie cares more about being the big fish in the small pond in Sacramento, even if it means dealing with some crappy owners and management.
