Trade idea:

SAC trades: DeMarcus Cousins + Rudy Gay
GSW trades: Draymond Green + Klay Thompson

Sacramento gets two young stars to rebuild their team around. They also have WCS as a long term option at center and short term have Casspi and Koufos.

Golden State builds a big three with 3 of the top 5 players in the league in Steph Curry, Kevin Durant and Cousins.

It feels like other GMs are trying to work the media to induce Sacramento to make a deal.  If the Kings think they have a 40-50% chance of re-signing Cousins when his contract is up, they should probably hold onto him and be willing to risk losing him with nothing in return.

Cousins is a Top 5 player in this league???

Second best center, yes, but not Top-5, more like Top-15.

As for the trade, it's not horrible but as much as they need a big man, they probably don't want to give up Thompson and Green, also considering Gay is pretty much a rental in that case (no guarantee he stays with GSW after the season ends).

That's the thing though.

It doesn't look like they have that chance. Kings fans also feel the Kings are done with Cousins and frankly, his behavior on the court sort of shows it, he doesn't like being with SAC and losing more games.

It doesn't matter what their actual chances are.  What matters is what Vivek and Divac or whoever has replaced him by then thinks their actual chances are.  Do you think the Kings brain trust won't overestimate that?

Firstly, you say he's the second best center?  Name me one center who is better then Cousins.  There isn't one.  He is the undisputed best center in the NBA, nobody else comes remotely close.

Secondly, top 15 player in the NBA?  That's an absolute joke.  Over the past 4 seasons Demarcus Cousins has averaged Per-36 numbers of:

26.9 Pts
11.9 Reb
3.4 Ast
1.5 Stl
1.5 Blk
47% FG
32% 3PT
74% FT
51% Free Throw Rate
1.34 Points Per FGA

He's done all of that while putting up oustanding advanced stats (Real Plus Minus, Net Rating, etc).

I would love to see you name me 10 players (let alone 14) who have put up numbers close to that over the past 2-3 seasons running.

In fact I think you'd struggle to name 5.

I have Lebron, Durant, Westbrook and Curry.  Maybe at a squeeze you can throw Harden in there.  Out of all the guys on that list, Lebron and Westbrook are the only ones who are legit two-way players.  So that puts Cousins easily in the top 6.

The only possible arguments you can make against Cousins revolve around team success, and they have nothing to do with his own individual abilities.

I'm going to stick by my "top 5" statement because I would put Cousins in that first group above Harden.

If you really want to get argumentative you can throw Kawhi Leonard, Anthony Davis, and Damian Lillard into the mix with the way they are playing right now.  Even if you put all of those guys (and Harden) above Cousins, that still puts him comfortably in the top 10.  Personally, I wouldn't put any of those guys above him, but that's just me.

Trying to argue with someone who thinks Cousins is better than Kawhi Leonard seems like trying to argue with someone who thinks that Josh Smith was a great player.

Cousins fills a need on the Celtics Roster.

Sometimes you have to take a chance. If he works out we could compete with the Cavs.

Jeez, who's the best Center? I think Cuz is comfortably the best Center and borderline top-10 overall.

Lol sorry man, I didn't really want to start an argument, but it's just I had Anthony Davis ranked the best after Cousins but career wise Cousins is currently the best. Davis might be a forward but Pelicans did say before the season they would start moving him to center. You can make an argument between both those guys but they are definitely phenomenal talent. Towns is also getting there.

My top-10 is (not in order):
- Curry
- Durant
- Davis
- Harden
- Westbrook
- Lebron
- Leonard
- Lillard
- Towns
- George or Irving

I had Cousins around 11-12, which is pretty much within Top-15 (so I guess more like Top-12)

So.. Would Cousins Even Want To Come Here...?

First off, am I being paranoid for asking this?

I don't care if the C's had no Horford and Crowder today... losing to the 1-9 Pelicans is just inexcusable.

Ugly game all around. So now the Celtics are 5-5 and pretty much at/around the 8th seed in the East. Yes it's still early, but the Kings are 4-7, only 1.5 games back of Boston.

If Cousins wants to go to a team that wins more, then would he choose Boston based on how they have started this season and seeing that the C's lost to the Pelicans... Idk maybe I am being paranoid.

The issue has always been cost but also, does Cousins view this Boston team "with" him as a contender? That could be another factor here.

I still want Boogie. I want him very badly. Just felt the need to say that.

I am absolutely all over wanting him.

If there are any teams in this league that have the culture to potentially turn Cousins attitude around it would be Boston or San Antonio IMHO.

We have as good a shot as anybody, and if Cousins can be kept happy he is the best center (and a top 5 player) in this league.

Furthermore, who better to serve as a mentor for Cousins than someone like Horford?

I think Green is basically untouchable for GS, not because of how good he is but rather his versatility and being the backbone of their defense.

I'd love this trade if I was Sacramento and hate it if I'm Golden State. They're basically adding more offense and subtracting even more defense, which is the worst thing they can do right now.

3. Simple math dictates that the Kings minus Cousins would be 1-9 (or really bad) right now, but the Celtics plus Cousins would be a contender.
