now that pre-season is over, what are the things people are taking away from the games they've seen?

Personally, my impressions of the team:
- the starting 5 isn't elite but will compete with the best and is looking like a top 5-6 starting 5 in the league.
- the primary bench support: KO, JJ, Smart, Brown and Rozier could be pretty solid.  Rozier is really looking good with his shot.  Smart is looking better as a PG.  Brown is improving every game.  KO and JJ need to be effective with their shots but they'll get killed on the boards.
- Deep bench of Zeller, Green and the remaining flotsam may have their moments in a game or 2 this year but not likely.

Thoughts?

Rozier is gonna be a valuable asset in a few short years.

We need a reliable big to rebound and defend on the second unit. Zeller isn't it, that's why Stevens is contemplating using Amir more with the second unit.

I hope KO is healthy, and new and improved sometime in the near future.

I think I'd consider a top-5 starting unit as elite. I think we match-up really well with most of the top starting fives, and I think we'll end up being a top-3 starting five during the season due to our two-way presence.

I'd also say that 1-10 we're probably the strongest in the league. There's going to be very little drop from our starters to our bench when compared to other teams.
Recovering Joe Skeptic, but inching towards a relapse.

No mention of Mickey? Lol

He played better than JJ in the pre season

Mickey will get mins. Bc when he is on the court our team D improves. Zeller tonight was mediocre once again

Hah. Mickey has only been good for the past two games. He stunk it up in the first 4.

No argument though that Zeller has been worse. Zeller looks like he's done caring and his work ethic is kaput.
My biases, in order of fervor:
Pro:
Smart, Brown, Hayward, Tatum, Kemba, Grant Williams, Sleepy Williams, Edwards!

Anti:
Kanter, Semi, Theis, Poierier

Last 2 only? What about the 16 pt game ?

Our team D performs better when he is on the court also. Look at his stat for this

Mickey is talented... Just needs to build his confidence and experience. We've seen enough from Zeller, he's not going to change at this point. Way too soft, with his relative quickness he should be better. To be fair, he needs to add weight to his frame - but it also seems like he isn't competitive enough. Put Jonas Jerebko's heart in him and you'd have a star.

Can't win with guys like that.

At the very least Mickey seems interested in boxing out and rebounding. Add to that athleticism and some touch on offense (we haven't seen it much on the C's but he has 3-pt range in the d-league), and you have the recipe for a potentially very good player.

Zeller sucks more than I remember he did

Marcus has improved his point guard play, but he's also injury prone

Scary Terry is the real deal

Jaylen has a ton of potential, but needs a lot of work too

Mickey might be a better option than Zeller

Al is such a perfect fit

Avery has improved his ball handling and passing

Jae looks so good defensively

RJ/Young is really a toss up if you ask me

D-Jax is a steal

Amir is a good guy

Gerald Green is the chucker that Heats fans told me he was

Isaiah has looked a little less active and hasn't perfected his adjustment to Horford yet

Jerebko is on and off
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

you vs. the guy she tells you not to worry about

Gerald is a player that will shoot you in and out of the game. I think he's trying to show Celtics nation how much he's grown. Hopefully he'll settle down and let the game come to him.

Jaylen was the least efficient player on the team in preseason, but you could see the potential.  He might be able to make an impact off the bench this year.

Nope, Gerald is just a ball hog.  He's been that way since his Nets stint.

Really a hog, but for certain situation you need a marcus thornton, gerald green. Gerald wont play everyday imo

I think this is a pretty fair assessment of everyone.

The 2 players that have shown the most growth since last season are Rozier and AB.  AB doesn't look completely incompetent with the ball in his hands now.  able to move and shoot now, make plays for others as well.  he's looking really good -- showing improvement I didn't think he could make
