Basketball Reference says that Blake has an "Early Termination" option for next year. Does anyone know the details on that? Internet comes up with squat. Salty?

Instant contender with Blake.

It's basically a type of player option. I believe the difference is that a player has to opt in to a "player option," while with an ETO, the player must opt out. Effectively, they're the same thing in that Blake will be a UFA next year.
Isaiah, you were lightning in a bottle.

Can't really see the difference! Sounds like a player option no matter how you cut the cake.

There are some different rules in terms of some small details (how trade bonuses are paid, for example), but for the most part they're functionally equivalent.  In the old CBA when six-year deals were allowed they mattered a bit more, because you could have multiple years of early termination options in a contract, but only one year of a player option. In the current CBA, however, that is no longer the case.

Good ol cbafaq with the dime. It was an ETO so he could insert a payrise in the 5th year:

"Options can be included in any multiyear contract, but ETOs are allowed only with five-year contracts.
Options can be held by the player or the team, but ETOs are always held by the player (i.e., there's no such thing as a team Early Termination Option).
Option years may not have a lower salary than the previous season. ETOs have no such restriction.
A contract with a player option can be extended (see question number 59) when the option is not exercised. A contract with an ETO may not be extended if the ETO is exercised.
When determining the amount of a trade bonus (see question number 97), option years are not counted as part of the remaining value of the contract, but years following an ETO are counted"

Whatever happens, Blake will Terminate early and get 10 million dollar raise. Let's hope it's in green.

I would much rather Blake Griffin than LaMarcus Aldridge.

I think Griffin would be a much better fit with his speed & athleticism + passing and ball handling. Those skills would allow the team to keep the offensive flow that it has already created rather than the upheaval that Aldridge would create.

LOL...When I first saw the title, I thought Blake was going to star in a new movie.

Blake Griffin stars in Early Termination...this time it's personal.

Not a fan of either, but yeah Griffin certainly a better fit.

He would be a better fit and he's younger. I'd also be interested to see what he could do next to a center like Horford. With the two of them together, Stevens could run the offense through his bigs almost entirely a la the early 00's Kings.
