looking at the McGee signing for the GSW made me think, what team made the best signing of this type all time

for the celtics as far i can remember we had some guys over the last few years, none of them really panned out as a high reward material, Marbury for example.

 I think this is slightly awkwardly worded. When Bron went to Miami I saw no real risk for Miami, but tons of reward. But I don't think that's what this means

yeah I took it to mean a guy that bounced around awhile and you got cheap that ended up great.  Not things like Shaq to LA, Lebron to Miami/Cleveland, etc.

I mentioned Whiteside, but I think Chauncey Billups in Detroit is another good one.

Whiteside's got to be up there. Even if you're not a big a fan of his (I'm not), Whiteside blossomed from a minimum guy to a max player. It can't really go any better than that.
