starting to think it was a blessing we did not get the 2nd pick
I think ainge said once that he would have picked brown over Ingram. Can't find the quote now.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

I'm starting to think Ingram's rookie year might be like Dante Exum's. Very, VERY raw.

I always find it funny when Cs fans say "give him time" or "he's still young" when it's a Cs but call other guys busts or overrated after SL or first preseasons into their career.

If Ingram is KD, then you may be right.

When I look at him, I see a skinny dude that will need years of physical development before he can dominate. I don't think he has KD's skill set. I may be wrong. My eyes show me Tayshaun, a good, not great player. I'm not convinced that Ingram has Tayshaun's defense either.
Ingram was one of the youngest players in the draft.  Nearly a full year younger than Brown.  At Duke he started off slow but then became acclimated and played so well that he was the clear #2 pick.  Ingram will be fine defensively once he picks up the schemes.  Even now, his length is helping offset his defense mistakes.

I'm not sure that anyone is saying that Ingram is a bust and will be out of the league in 5 years. I expect him to play over 10 years, make a couple of all star games, and be the best player on the Lakers. I think he will be a good-great pro.

Maybe the only reason why I prefer JB is b/c he has an NBA body. Ingram still needs to develop physically. Once that happens, he could be the MVP. I'm not convinced that's going to happen. I don't think he has KD's skill set to dominate as such a skinny dude.
The only real mistake is the one from which we learn nothing.

So, let me get this straight. We're making fun of the Lakers because they have a 19 year old #2 pick who was so lost on offense that he managed a 50% shooting night for 12 points in 26 minutes? Is that what we're celebrating?

Who is making fun of them on this thread? I guess you are just inventing what you want to say to make comments to respond to? All I said was that it may turn out to be a blessing we didn't get the 2nd pick (which is more cause I like Brown a lot). A few other posters said he looks raw. Is any of this crazy?

Unless the NBA body is Lebron or Shaq like, I'm not that impressed.  Once you get to the NBA, most everyone has an NBA body.  Hearing someone at the lower levels touted as having an NBA causes me some concern.  What about their skillset?  Are they only dominating because of their physical presence?  I haven't been able to see any preseason games so I have no opinion on Brown yet.

I much prefer Ingram's length to an NBA body. He's rather young so he may still be growing.   I have no doubt that NBA strength training will help Ingram develop over time.  How well he does in the NBA will be predominantly about his skillset and mentality?  I think he has potential greatness but he seems to have a laid-back attitude.  Coach K had to push him to be more aggressive, more demanding.

It's what happens with most fans with their teams. I think both Exum and Ingram have good futures ahead but I think it will take time.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
looks good to me. He's a baby. Shooting is good. Just needs to get some weight on him because the physicality is affecting him more than anything.

Could easily end up being the best player in the draft.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

21 points on 7/10 shooting tonight. 0 turnovers

He's fine.
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

you vs. the guy she tells you not to worry about

He's fine.

After a string of bad games I expect him to have at least one good game.

He doesn't even have frontal lobes yet.  He's likely going to be a beast.

Ingram highlights.  Looking good especially since it was against GSW whose big 4 all played 30+ minutes.

FWIW,

About even, but Ingram has been slightly better than Jaylen in preseason.  He has the higher EFF rating (8.4 to 7.5).  Comes down to better three point shooting and less turnovers.

Ingram:  8.1 points, 2.4 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 1.1 blocks, 0.7 steals, 0.3 turnovers with 41%/39%/54% shooting in 24mpg.

Brown:  10.7 points, 2.8 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 0.4 blocks, 1 steal, 1.7 turnovers, 42%/28%/59% in 23.3mpg

Ingram is 11 months younger.  He's widely believed to have a high ceiling.   While Jaylen wasn't widely believed to have a high ceiling, Boston clear thought otherwise.  Hopefully they are right.

Dude has the body of a pencil.  Basically the opposite of Jaylen.  Jaylen has an NBA-ready body already.  When people talk about Ingram's ceiling they must be considering how his body will evolve as he grows up and how it will impact his game (which is already arguably better than Jaylen)
