Tonight's win against Brooklyn will be one type of game we see a lot of. Perhaps we are ice cold or otherwise struggling, but we will win anyway.
Isaiah looks bored. I am not worried about him, but sometimes he is not that effective. Both Rozier and Smart have proven themselves so far to be capable point guards. With Bradley, Green and possibly Brown, we are all set at pg and sg.
Crowder had a rough shooting night. The rims were tight or the building was cold. I am not too worried about guys having off nights. Jaylen Brown looked good. Zeller looked fairly solid. Jordan Mickey looked good.
We need Olynyk back asap. I am getting a bad vibe of playing Amir and Al together. I don't know why the lineup has to always be set in stone. I would start Horford every game, but I'd rather have Olynyk or Jerebko play alongside. Horford and Johnson seem to be too many tall guys in the kitchen. Jerebko is power forward height. Olynyk has a facilitator's mind and can play either center or power foward.
Zeller is ahead of Mickey, but I don't know by how much. I'd like to see Amir come in off the bench. It seems like we'd be more balanced that way.
As for Bentil, he didn't play, so I assume he is done as a Celtic. That leaves Hunter versus Young. My mind is still in the Hunter camp. James Young continues to show me nothing as an NBA player. Hunter articulates an all-around game even if he is too raw to fully implement it. Jaylen Brown is in that same boat, but he has top first round talent, so like Marcus Smart, he will get decent minutes as a rookie.
Mickey is going nowhere. Jackson is not getting cut.
There are only three games left. I think the only question mark remaining is Olynyk. When's he coming back? Will he be rusty? I don't think Zeller or Mickey have what it takes yet to surpass Olynyk. Zeller might never get any better than he is which is average. Mickey might end up better than Olynyk, but he is too raw. They are different types of players anyway.
I'm afraid Johnson will get overshadowed playing with Horford and become a Jason Collins in the right spots but a dark hole for stats.
I like Amir and think he would be dynamite off the bench.
Gerald Green is going nowhere. He is the oldest guy on the team and money for scoring.
Green might also be an omen that Young is getting cut. They are very similar getting drafted at 18 with tons of potential that never materialized. Young seems years away if ever from playing in an NBA rotation. Hunter seems to be only a year away. Hunter can be developed and kept or traded. James Young wastes a spot. Someone has to go. It's looking more obvious after tonight.
I am with Isaiah. I am getting bored with preseason and want some real games that count.
Our defense was spectacular tonight at times. The Nets were like a college team trying to score on NBA pros. I don't know if the Nets were inept or we were that good.
I tend to think we are that good. The Nets look a bit better than I expected. I don't think they will win only ten games. They will probably have a year like we did year one with Brad Stevens. Maybe they will only win ten games. I think they will win about 20-25 games and give us a top five pick. They could be the worst team, but that is no guarantee. They have a couple decent players.
