19years old but with a mans build ,we all saw his clips from freshman year where he used his athleticism and strength to dominate opponents
 green has 10 years nba experience using the gift of athleticism and it shows with his deceptive use of it
in pull ups and getting to the hoop-its not all about power
jaylen at 19 hasn't had time or necessity to learn the subtleties and finesse of his talent
maybe harness is a better word but it is so evident when he tries to close at rim
 where he is wild and caught in unknown territory leading to charges and awkward spins
brad has experimented already mixing jaylen with different lineups
sometimes i think the adjustment for big strong rookies is even greater because there biggest talent gets nullified and night after night they have to face big,strong,quick, tricky or just immense older front courts

green has 10 years experience and now has isaiah who stated" he knows his spots and how he likes to get ball"" the guy can shoot"-they have chemistry and that was obvious at phoenix

brad has that calm demeanor and puts people in spots to succeed and play to their strengths
jaylen is in uncharted territory where green has been compiling 10 yrs of experience scoring-some good some bad-

everybody claims green doesn't play defense -
defense was greens personal focus at miami not offense he had years of that -even his teammates were giving him credit
so do not be surprised if he gets better being surrounded by smart,avery,crowder

crawford,marcus thorton,turner, crowder,isaiah have thrived under brad and don't forget jerebko to lesser degree zeller
green and isaiah were the top scoring 2nd team duo in the league for phoenix
maybe green plays like shaun livingston for years on celts
but he can definitely help jaylen on use of the gift they both have

there is also  an 82 game schedule back to backs and west coast swings  with hotels and air travel for a rookie to adjust too-there are colds or flu and nagging injuries
then the fan pressure , even at home the,loud and adrenaline pumping noise,losses and missed opportunities,being embarrassed by older bigger wiser pros,rookie calls from refs,foul shots in madison square garden,blown defensive assignments making a teammate look bad and even the highs of great plays at boston garden
who says he needs a lot of playing time from the beginning
 maybe he should be eased in as not to be overwhelmed being a rookie ,opposition will try to expose his weaknesses and attack them
so putting jaylen with right group and moving his minutes up or down depending on teams being played and how he is growing
this  should be a priority and a gift not a punishment

All good points about our prized rookie.

I would try and play Jaylen with the starters as much as possible.  That would help him develop and likely prevent some bad habits from forming.  This won't be easy given the rotations and the fact that Gerald is just a better all-around player at this moment (that could change by season's end).

green followed goran to miami where he gets eased out by winslow and slower pace
now he is here with isaiah and a coach that wants to fly around but then there is jaylen
but i think winslow was much more complete after his college program
history may not repeat but it may rhyme  as mark twain says

Green will play in the rotation every game. You nailed it before everyone else. I needed to see him in the flow. He looked solid in his first Celtics game. He's what I always wanted from Jeff Green but only rarely did he exert himself. Eddie House, Nate Robinson, maybe even Jordan Crawford and Marcus Thornton chuckers can win you games. Step aside and give me the darn ball.

Not everyone can be Jerebko and Olynyk very polite saying, you go ahead and shoot it. I don't want to hog the ball. It's all about sharing.

He'll be 20 by the time the season starts.  Still young of course but not as young as others in his class.  To compare, Kobe was about this age starting his third year in the league.  He average 20 a game as made the all star team that year.

 In terms of maturing physically, you tend to see it up until about 22 years of age.  Jaylen could still make a big jump over the next two years but any improvmeant after that age will likely be incremental.

Agree that Green's defense is unfairly attacked. He gambles too often (but so does Isaiah - albeit for different reasons), and tries to block guys from behind, but other than that his awareness is pretty good.

I know you're making a point about Jaylen limiting minutes for Green, but interesting that you think Winslow was more complete than Jaylen coming out of college, because of his better 3% ?

winslow had a bad shooting year and miami hired a full time shooting coach,
i just think the duke program and competition left winslow better prepared
i believe that jaylen lived off athleticism and was also immersed in studies in a doctorate program
winslow lived off his defense in his rookie year and shot poorly

i was giving an alternate view to being thrown in like most high picks on lottery teams
-miami's bringing along winslow may be an example of guiding a player in his rookie year-
its early in pre season and already critics have been looking to attack jaylens shooting

every game is important, as we learned last year,also keeping vets healthy and not burned out
 the most important games of year brooklyn
brad will adapt and place jaylen in a mix of situations
this will apply to green also

I just wanted to go back to Rollie's heading"Jaylen a boy - remember".  The kid is a little over a year removed from playing high school ball in Georgia.  Went across the country to Cal-Berk, now across the country again to Bean Town making 4.7 million a year.

When I think back to my lack of maturity at 18, 19, 20 years old, I shudder.  I could not have handled what he has gone through in such a short period of time.  I wonder how well many of us here would handle all of the expectations, learning curve, media, etc.
