I dont know about anyone else but it seems obvious to me that we are seriously short of bigs beyond our current starters. We have Tyler Zeller, Jonas Jerebko that are NBA bench players and two guys in Mickey and Bentl who are not rotation players and may not make the roster.

I'm  not convinced Olynyk is going to be back soon and when he is for how long?

I hope Danny is working the trade market because Horford and Johnson are not going to last long with 40 mpg and our small lineups will kill us with the lack of rebounding.

We may see Zizic  and/or Yabusele sooner than later.

Olynyk is meeting with his doctors next week so hopefully we'll find out more about his return after that.

I'd like to fantasize Danny is working on bringing in another legit big but I doubt it. Think you are going to get a lot of small ball sorry to say.

Also seriously doubt we see either Zizic or Yabusele before next season. The advantage of one additional year of control on a rookie contract is too great. There are other options that DA will look to, if we are in need of another rotation big, before bringing in the youngster, mid-season.

Besides, has there been any indication that KO will not be returning on the prescribed timeline, i.e. sometime late this month? I read that he is to be medically assessed on october 15 for possible clearance to participate in contact drills...

I have no problem with that.  I don't think the Kings will be any better so I'm waiting on Cousins becoming available.  They're going to have to trade him or they'll lose him for nothing in a couple years.

So the lack of serviceable bigs is directly related to the lack of rebounds and rim protection.

The top teams use small ball lineups for shorter duration it seems.

It is not a mainstay butvrather a pace changer.

Hope we get healthy on the frontline soon.

there is also this information from a few days ago:

Kelly Olynyk (shoulder) was assigned to the Maine Red Claws for practice and was recalled to the Celtics after practice.
We still don't have a timetable for Olynyk's return to the Boston lineup, but this is obviously a step in the right direction. Back on Monday, coach Brad Stevens stated that it was "unlikely" that Olynyk would return to action this week, but hopefully this is a sign that he is close.

he was originally "questionable" for the denver game, which means he must be very close to being healed. what is also encouraging is that olly is going to maine, which means they expect him to play.

good news. he seems close to his 2016 debute. :)

Imagine the Celtics are so desperate for bigs, we're looking to Kelly Olynyk as a savior. Kelly is not going to help with toughness, rebounding, and interior defense, something the C's desperately need, even when Horford returns.

But Kelly should help, if he can find some consistency, and if he takes his Alpha Dog pill daily.

Kelly is a "finesse" player. No toughness - but he can't hurt.

Tell that to Kevin Love.
