So here is a game for everybody who is bored here is a little game to play.

You have to pick 3 young players to build your team around from the last 2 drafts (2015 and 2016.)

The only rule is that you can only pick one player from 1-10, one player from 11-20 and one player from 21-undrafted. This is regardless of the year. For example, if you pick Kristaps, you cant pick any top 10 player from 2015 or 2016. Feel free to explain who you choose, or dont. Go wild.

1. KAT (1. 2015)- Best prospect to build around. Will be very special.

2. Devin Booker (13. 2015)- Since I have the paint locked down for the future, I want a sharp shooter who can create off the dribble on the perimeter. These two give me options both on the outside and inside.

3. D. Murray (29. 2016)- I wanted someone who can be that be that shot creator off the bench while he comes into his own. A lanky streaky combo guard seems like a good bet. He could one day start with the others who would space the floor while he creates.

Towns and Booker are locks.

Portis or Lab would be my third guy.

Kat, Simmons...  I guess adding Okafor/porzingis causes a log jam so it would be best to add a guard.  Hard to say who the best guard is.  Might be d'Angelo Russell

KAT, Kris Dunn, Jaylen Brown. Athletic scorers who play defense.
The only real mistake is the one from which we learn nothing.

KAT is the obvious choice.

Think I'd go with Myles Turner over Booker.

Since I have two bigger guys RHJ seems like the obvious choice for the later picks.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - Noah, G. Wallace, Melo,
Deep Bench -

Two bigs huh Moranis? I was thinking of this pairing but I just wasnt sure if these two would be ultra effective together. The RHJ pairing is interesting though. Who would play typical pf out of those two bigs?

KAT, Booker, and then either Brice Johnson or Larry Nance Jr.

edit: a variation of this exercise that could also be interesting and fun would be to extend it to 2014's draft too, with the same rules (1 player from 1-10, 1 from 11-20, and 1 from 21-30), but with a twist: you can only take 1 player from each year. so, 1 guy from 2014, 1 guy from 2015, and 1 guy from 2016, while also following the original rules of taking a player from every 1/3rd of the draft.
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

you vs. the guy she tells you not to worry about

My other option was Booker and Portis, but ultimately I think Turner and RHJ have more upside collectively than Booker and Portis.

Big guys are still much harder to find than small guys.  With KAT's outside shooting, I think those two would be a pretty good pair offensively and I think both could effectively guard either position so I don't see much issue defensively.  I mean Towns was playing with Dieng, Bjelica, and Garnett most of the time last year, I don't see Turner as much different than those guys (at least from a style of play standpoint).  Even Turner played a fair amount with Mahinmi so the dual big thing isn't a big deal.

At the end of the day, I think under this criteria that is the grouping with the most overall talent while still not destroying fit (i.e. Portis may have slightly more upside than RHJ, but no way you go with Portis with two bigs already there).  You can find a PG off the trash heap and if you have two scoring bigs and a scoring wing is less critical.  And I really like RHJ.  It is a shame he got hurt last year, as I think he could be a monster defensively and certainly has the talent to improve offensively (a Bradley type player).

I think it's too early to pass judgment on the 2016 class so I chose to go with the 14 and 15 drafts instead.

1-10  Towns

11-20  Booker (I probably would've gone with Hood here because he's a way better defender, but he was drafted #23 and didn't meet the parameters)

21-undrafted  Jokic

Porzingis, Trey Lyles, Labissiere as I still don't get why he fell so far, could be a monster if he figures it out.

2015:

Top 10 -- KAT
11-20 -- Turner
21-undrafted -- RHJ

Now that's the basis of a monstrous defensive frontcourt.

2016:

Top 10 -- Simmons
11-20 -- Baldwin IV
21-undrafted -- Luwawu

Simmons is the obvious top choice in this draft.  The other two are guys that I felt shoulda been taken higher in this draft, because I think they have solid 3-and-D starter upside.
