I am kind of afraid that Rozier will kill the ball movement in the second unit, though. He's best creating for himself rather than others, and I worry about him being the primary ball-handler and not sharing the duties with Smart, who is more inclined to get others involved.

eh. Terry seems to know when he needs to pass and when to score. With marcus, it doesnt seem like he knows when to score lol. i think rozier is primed for a big year. hes gonna be a big part of the second unit. much larger role than smart, if you ask me. thats my bold prediction for the season.
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

you vs. the guy she tells you not to worry about

The Celts don't really need any additional big men.  They've got plenty.

So for mid-season buyouts, I'd look at wings, or possibly veteran ballhandlers if the team suffers injuries to the young guards, or Smart and Rozier seriously struggle to run the offense without Thomas on the floor.

Perhaps Lou Williams could be a name that comes up.  Would the Lakers trade him for, say, Tyler Zeller and a pick?

If Rudy Gay actually does get bought out, I could see him really thriving as a second unit scorer.  He could play strictly at the three and just do his iso-ball thing, and the guys around him could focus on playing defense and getting out on the break.

Would probably mean Brown spends the second half of the season on the bench, though.

Maybe not over-reacting to one preseason game would be a reasonable course of action.

To be honest this had nothing to do with the game yesterday or the players we do have. Teams that are serious contenders for the conference or title very frequently get players midseason that don't pan out on lottery teams. The spurs got andre miller and kevin martin (didn't work out), the warriors added Varejo, the heat added Johnson etc...

I think it is cool and a positive to think the Celtics could add this kind of veteran and is not related to our preseason showing at all.

I am not sure about this. Things looked worse cause KO was not playing yesterday, but I honestly want no part of Zeller playing meaningful minutes in a playoff game. I really think a vet big that could play solid defense like a PJ Brown from our title run or Reggie Evans of a few years ago could be helpful for certain matchups.

I think Louis Williams is an interesting name if we need offense off the bench (though I am hoping Rozier and Green can provide that).

Even if Rudy Gay becomes available, I don't see him going anywhere to be a backup.  He's not going to do anything to hurt his last big payday next offseason.

I don't necessarily disagree about Zeller, though I think as a 5th big man in the rotation he's just fine.  Still, I don't think Kris Humphries or the like is going to be any better.

I actually do think Humphries would be a really nice get as our 5th big instead of Zeller. He is a very good rebounder and I fear with Sully gone there are some teams that will crush us on the board, particularly our bench units (who is our best bench rebounder?). Humphries at least provides that kind of specialty (and perhaps has improved his jump shooting to be respectable in that regard). Zeller doesn't have any specialty and the one thing he could be average at (scoring) is probably completely offset by his matador defense and mediocre rebounding.
