Assuming Chicago are awful at the deadline (almost guaranteed), which deal would you prefer?

I'm gonna put this same thread up every week until season starts.

I don't think Chicago will be awful at the deadline, but the better questions are what does Boston look like and what does Brooklyn look like?
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

I don't think the Bulls ownership, or management even, have a realistic perspective on their own team.

Plus, they really have no incentive to trade Butler for anything less than a king's ransom.  He's on a long term, bargain-basement price for a two-way perennial All-Star.

Would you trade multiple Nets picks and/or Jaylen Brown plus Jae Crowder for Jimmy Butler?  That's likely what it would take.

Yeah, there's no guarantee that Chicago will be awful.  If Wade stays healthy they are a pretty decent team with Rondo distributing and Mirotic shooting from 3.  Besides all that, Butler is their future, their only true young star.

Wait - your poll asked which deal would Chicago prefer!

My answers are not the same for those two questions.

My answer as to who would Chicago prefer is Jae Crowder, Jaylen Brown, one of the Nets' picks, and another pick of some description on top of that.

I was not missing the Butler conversation, I think he is over rated.

I feel Chicago is locked into the season. They won't make changes till the off season in regards to Wade and Butler.

My guess is Chicago would prefer Marcus and the 2017 Brooklyn pick.  This draft is believed to be pretty good and the Brooklyn pick is expected to be high.  Some still think Marcus has star potential.  Granted, he might never be as good as Avery, but my guess is Smart has more trade value than Avery (perhaps unfairly) based on potential.

It doesn't sound like either of those deals would be nearly enough for Chicago, though.

And it probably doesn't matter, because Butler is overrated and Jaylen Brown will hopefully be better than him in a few years.

I vote no.

This.  He's a very good player, maybe even a star, but he's not a superstar.

I'd save those assets to make moves for a top 10 player, or see if the Celtics can actually *gasp* develop one of their lottery picks.
