Ironically enough, SL answered this question in a previous thread.

This is the closest I can get to an answer. I couldn't find any details on his contract but just did.  This article was kind of hidden is all.

http://www.providencejournal.com/sports/20160727/ben-bentil-finalizes-three-year-contract-with-boston-celtics

It is a partial guarantee in the first year.  What is the partial guarantee?  The celtics apparently set his contract up with that in mind.  The 3 years are basically meaningless and not guaranteed it sounds like but it's just to have him under contract for now.  There is no clarification on that though.

james young still has a year guaranteed. Rj has questions too.

The partial guarantee in the first year is probably just to pay him for preseason I'm guessing and the possibility he makes the roster.

Jackson and Mickey's contracts are much more guaranteed that they are going to be here barring a trade.

We have 16 players under contract and one with a partial guarantee and Nader who supposedly has an agreement to play in the d-league..

I'm more just wondering if someone can clarify how that works no big deal.  do you?

I don't think it's the celtics intent to waive players under guaranteed contracts.  Some of them are so small by nba standards eating them is no big deal but that isn't the intent.  So trades are going to be made before the start of the season?  There are other ways to maneuver those deals I'm not aware of?
What exactly is your question?

Yes, the Celtics have to pay guaranteed contracts.

That is my question.  It seems like Ainge just signed our first 2 second round picks and left nader off because  possibly there is some sort of other agreement there and he's trying to give the celtics as much firepower going into preseason and training camp.  But I don't think the celtics intent is to just eat those contracts.  I think they don't want to just lose some of these guys either and would rather have them playing in the d-league.  Just odd we signed Bentil though.  We are already over the limit regardless but even still.

If Bentil clears waivers and signs with the red claws, that means he gets the contract from us although he is no longer under contract from us in theory if it is guaranteed.  If he were to then resign with us how would that work?  He's gets his initial contract plus whatever he then signs for?

Is Bentil's contract guaranteed or does he have to make the roster?

The money he gets would be the same as if he was waived by another team and signed by the Celtics.  His guaranteed money is his even if he is cut.

One things that some teams do is give a player a partially guaranteed contract, knowing they plan on probably waiving the player.  This gives that player extra money so that signing with the D-League makes some financial sense instead of looking for a contract overseas.  This usually happens with rookie free agents, but they may have made the same sort of arrangement with a guy like Bentil.

it always amazes me what people think is reality over the internet.  I think I said i wasn't doing that and was just typing and asking a question lol.  Believe what you want to believe I guess. You are the ones bickering.

I guess me saying I'm not doing that and was just trying to explain and ask a question.  I think I know what I'm  doing better than you lol.

People who assume things and judge people are idiots though especially over the internet. That much is just a true statement because I'm doing none of that.  You are just reading it that way.

What did i say that was bickering?  Clarifying yes because someone took what I said the wrong way.

No offense but it's all in your imagination.  It really is.  lol.  I can see how you would read what I said that way but that's not what I was saying at all.

Clarifying. I just ended up researching it more and was just sharing what I came up with too.

I was confused by the amount of players we had under contract and how that is going to work ultimately and was trying to get some clarity on that.

Who assumed and who judged?
I hate to interrupt your conversation with yourself  ;) but Nader isn't signed and you should not expect that to occur.  He will either go abroad or to Maine for the season.
SL stated 1 fact, gave an oppinon and made a joke.
fact: Nader is not signed
opinion: dont anticipate Nader being signed.
Joke: you were replying to own posts hence making conversation with yourself

You replied:
That's not what I said at all.  I asked a question.  You're an idiot. Never said Nader was signed either.  Just said I'd like to keep him.
You replied with 4 statements and a judgement.
Because SL did not reference any of your text, you must be assuming that SL believed you believed Nader to be signed or something like that.

Then you judged SL.

EDIT: Fixed the ordering.

I am absolutely bickering over something largely irrelevant. However, you called a poster an idiot and I felt you had no grounds to do so, so I replied.

Also its hard to claim youve long since moved on from something you posted about 15 minutes ago, but who cares?

I don't. I know that much.  I wasn't even saying what he thinks i was.  All I care about was trying to make sense of our roster.

So  what's the deal with Nader?

Domestic draft and stash? (D League)
or will he decline?

I hope Nader has some handshake agreement to play in the d-league. I really don't want to lose him.  I think he is good and legit. He could decline though.  He's a younger more athletic Jerebko to me so far.

Our roster makes more sense now that bentil's contract is not  guaranteed apparently.  That didn't make sense to me.  Still we are going to have to cut a guaranteed player if we don't make trades.

Not sure what Ainge did last year.  He usually figures out some way although I think he just cut a couple guys and maybe made a small deal. I don't remember.

This offseason may be different but usually he just tries to stretch the roster as far as he can as far as deals and everything.

If we make a trade and bring back Ray Allen and possibly even pierce then things get interesting.

Ben Bentil what do you see?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=88fkBaJ8gdw

I see a guy who's shot is erratic right now but has some powerful dunks.  He's better than anything we had last year at the end of our roster.

Seems pretty mobile as a player and shooter but his skillset is pretty limited otherwise.

I don't like just waiving guys.  We drafted him.  It's a wasted pick that way unless Ainge can figure something out or he ends up d-league bound regardless.

I think they had to extend James Young at the beginning of last season. He had only been in the league for a season and was very young at the time so it makes sense they did that. They already budgeted for it and now they see the error of their ways. So he's gone probably.  Nader...realistically I don't see him getting any time in front of Gerald Green, Jaylen, or Crowder. He'll probably wait as long as he can and make some sort of move. He's probably annoyed he's not getting a partial contract like Bentil.

Bentil is probably getting a partial contract as incentive for him to stay close to the team in Maine so they can call him up if they need to and so that he'll compete on the team next year.

Holland is probably gone.

It's just not that big a deal and they're probably taking their time because there's no rush and you never know who gets injured in the next month.
