Still reading rumors. Can we afford him?

According to this site, we are above the cap space now. I guess the reason is we have so many small contracts and cap holds that added together they do have an impact.

As for JR Smith, once we got Gerald Green I do not see a point in taking him esp. if it costs us ca. 15 mill. moreover, I think he really wants to go back to the Cavs

We can pay him $2.9 million.  If he'll take that, I'm on board.  But I don't see that happening.

I can't see a situation where it's beneficial for us or him.

If Cousins/Griffin deal happens which would require AB or Crowder then you could use a Smith to fill in for them. You just have to ship a little more cap the other teams. With a little more cap space Cavs might be interested in a sign and trade for JJ and Hunter (+TPE).

So team example
Starters= Couisns, Hordford, Smith, AB, IT
Bench= Zeller, KO, Green, Brown, Rozier

Unfortunately, I could see him choosing a place like Brooklyn if he decides to chase money more than another title. He seems much more like a New York guy than a Cleveland guy anyways. I think Brooklyn still has enough space to offer him a bigger, shorter-term contract, though I'd have to double-check on that.

That would put Cleveland in an interesting position moving forward. You'd think we'd become prime trade targets of he decides to leave.

We already picked up one knucklehead in Gerald Green  having 2 could try even someone as patient as Brad.

Not interested.

Brooklyn doesn't seem interested.  They'd rather keep knuckleheads away from their rookie new coach and younger players.

Hopefully. I'm still really hoping that he doesn't go back to Cleveland, and it gives us just one more opportunity for a potential trade for an upgrade at the 4. I guess they could start Shump, who'd upgrade their size and perimeter D, but he'd really hurt their spacing, which they really rely on for Kyrie and Lebron's penetration, especially since neither TT or Lebron are really all that big of threats from outside.

It's an idiotic and made up story that you shouldn't have clicked on or shared here to reward them with more clicks.  It says that team management told the media that Tyler Zeller wouldn't be on the team to make room for Smith's salary -- the same Tyler Zeller we signed to a contract last week and can't trade until Janaury 15th.

Really, it's pathetic, and you should never click on that website again.

Why would you want JR Smith?

It's based on your perspective, quite simply
