No, it would make no sense for them, because this year they're not paying too much money, next year they will still be near the cap, and the year after, Klay will be under contract while Bradley and Smart will be free agents, and probably getting paid more than Klay for a year.

Before Klay really broke out, GSW wouldn't deal him for Kevin Love whose value was at an all time high and would have fit well with their offense.  KTs value has only skyrocketed from there, they won't trade him while they are n the championship window if ever.

Our players and picks are highly unlikely to return a star player in or approaching their prime.

This thread really hits home and shows how many of you in this forum live in la-la land. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES, would Golden state part with Klay Thompson. They won championship last year, fell one game short this year and is the overwhelming favorite to win it next year. As long as Klay is a crucial part of their winning ways (which he is) , He's going to be in a Golden state uniform. The team would absorb and pay the luxury tax before giving him up.

The ONLY , far-fetched , crazy miracle scenario where I see Klay getting traded would be if he tore his ACL or had a horrific injury and he comes back and he's not the same. After a year or 2 then they'd be willing to give up on him. Otherwise. Please get all those pipe dreams out your head and focus on REALISTIC guys we can sign. (cough cough , Lance Stephenson... best 3 out there right now and we're weak at the 3)

Well at least every commenter recognizes that this isn't happening.  It actually seems like a good number of posters do have a reasonable grasp of realities.

Sure, the commenters on this thread, but there are other threads just like this one. Like those who really thought KD was going to sign here or threads where people are trying to make a case and say THIS YEAR Brown will be a superstar. I wasn't insulting everyone. Not this year.

Next year is when we maybe have a shot. Next year, they will have 3 key Free Agents, Kevin Durant (who will opt out), Andre Iguodala (expiring) and Steph Curry (expiring). They can resign Steph using his Bird Rights, but to be able to resign KD to a max, they'd have to renounce Iggy's rights, which puts the Warriors in a tough spot.

KD would eat all the cap room they would clear, and leaves them with the Room Exception (I think) to sign Iggy, which may not be enough.

This is where we should try and lure Klay. We can give them either Avery Bradley, Jae Crowder or Marcus Smart and multiple draft picks. It would clear enough room for GSW to resign all three. And with Durant on the fray in the Bay, we can convince Klay that he'll have a bigger role in Boston and he might push for the trade.

But chances are they let go of Iggy and just roll with their Big 4. But if we are trying to go for Klay, it should be next year. There's no chance they break up this 4 this year.

And this is assuming the cap will be at $102 million. If the cap is around the projected $107, then there's no need for the Warriors to clear room, they'll have enough to retain all three, which then will in turn, will not likely to trade Klay. I'm not even sure if I'm correct about this, please fact check me if I'm wrong.

Why would GSW even consider that?

Not those exact words but check out threads like "Brown's potential," I think expectations from him are too high. He's only 19. I disagree, Celtics where one of the top 3 who were interested, much in the same way Milwaukee was interested Dwayne Wade. I'm of the opinion that #1 it didn't make basketball sense #2 Just unrealistic. No Top shelf superstar free agent has ever signed here. Horford is actually the best FA signing ever, Him and an old Dominique Wilkins.

Don't get me the wrong way, I was born & raised in Malden, (live in OKC now) I love the Boston Celtics but explain to me from KD's point of view. if you were KD and you REALLY wanted a championship, Give me a logical reason why Boston would be your choice as opposed to Golden State or staying in OKC where he set roots and was 1 game away from beating 2015 champs and making the finals , maybe even beating the cavs this year. Not that i'm a raging pessimist but I'm of the opinion that ... yeah you can have hope but I wouldn't hold my breath or invest any emotion into the possibility of a KD, Stephen Curry, Lebron, Carmelo Anthony type player making the announcement....... "i'm taking my talent to the Boston Celtics"

my thought is that it will ultimately be a challenge for GS to keep 4 guys making $35m+ (judging by Horford contract, this number could be $40m+). long term, is it possible for GS to keep all 4? If so, why doesn't a team put together something similar to the '92 dream team and try to win every year. Current GSW is good, but without any type of spending restriction (and if luxury tax is irrelevant), why shouldn't Lebron recruit Carmelo, Cousins, Harden, and Anthony Davis? That team could be GSW.
