Smart gets at least one vote for All-NBA this year.  I don't care about the averages.

I'd agree with this per-36. I just don't think he'll make the points requirement in his 30 or so minutes that he'll get, though he should easily get the rebounds and the assists with Turner gone.

Assuming you mean all NBA defensive team? I'm sure new parenthood is exhausting (kudos), but it doesn't cause delusions, I don't think!

Edit: Actually, maybe does. Sure hope not :P

Nope, I mean all-NBA.  I don't think he makes all-NBA, but I think at least one person votes for him down-ballot.  He already got All-Defense votes last year, even some first-team votes.

EDIT: I also think he places high for 6th man if he doesn't wind up starting too many games.

  • A true Celtic plays with heart.
I'm actually convinced that if Ainge doesn't make a trade, Smart will likely see minutes at the 1, 2, and the 3 as an all-around glue guy/utility guy. Too many guard minutes to go around, Smart, IT, Bradley, Rozier, and then possibly DJax,Young, Hunter. <--- Who 3 may all just be waived/trade bait, or released.

I mean, we literally have a great surplus of young players at our disposal at the 1-2, so something's gotta give.

If you can land Hayward for free in his upcoming FA, and try to bank on an Cousins with Smart as the focal trade, should you do it, Brooklyn picks included/starters?

I think in the right system, and Smart will have to selfishly take a few shots, but could put up at least 12 PPG, 5 RPG, 4 APG, 1.6 SPG numbers seen reasonable.

With the Celtics? Probably not as much.

I love Smart though. He's my favorite Celtic on the team, and will be for a while, I just love his intensity and his hustle to the game.

It won't be long till Smart ends up becoming one of the Celtic greats, his perimeter defense is almost close to as good as Tony Allen's.

You do realize he's a massive negative on offense right? He can't put the ball in the basket with any sort of efficiency from anywhere on the court.

I think he will per 36. It wouldn't be too huge of an increase in production at all.
Isaiah, you were lightning in a bottle.

The poll Q was what will he average.  I voted no.  I can't see him getting close to those averages unless he is getting 30-35 min a game and he improves his shooting.  Rozier and JB need minutes to, so I don't think he gets the minutes either way.

I'm a really big Smart fan and I'm higher on him than a lot of people here.

That being said, not many players in the NBA average 15/5/5. That is setting a pretty high bar. It's not like if he averages 14/4/4 his season will be a disappointment.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

No offense intended but for me I don't follow per 36 numbers. I just follow his game averages if anything . Being that this is his third year I guess if he stays ahead of rozier minutes wise I'd expect him to average ( just guessing Ofcourse) 11 ppg, 5 rebounds, and 3.5 assists. I just think he's a role player. But a very useful one!

I expect a little better at the free throw line but still bad shooting from the field.

I love smart's dedication to defense and he makes some jaws topping defensive plays but so far it looks like he's awesome on shooting guards but not quick enough for guarding point guards.
