Bulpett continues to be the one local beat writer who really understands the NBA.  This explains why its very likely no major deals are coming anytime soon:

Interesting stuff on Griffin too.

I think if there was a trade out there a trade would be made.  The celtics have a lot of good players and picks.  We aren't going to screw up the franchise just to give the media something to talk about.  I think we have enough to make something happen but it has to be good.

I think he is on retainer to the celtics, and his only job is to squash any rumors that come out. More often than not a trade rumor comes out then he reports that the teams haven't had talk in months. Since he says that after most rumors it really makes me doubt if it's the truth.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

So how many times has he been wrong with this?

... thought so.

Bulpett's doing little more than kissing Ainge's ass, and covering it when necessary.  That's all that piece is.  Bulpett should be embarrassed to have written that garbage.

A solid point.  However when certain media members - and posters here - speculate about trades they NEVER look at it from the point of view of the team dealing the star.  You can't ignore the business side of transactions.  You have to be able to sell hope to your fan base and sponsors.

Giving aware your team's star player only ticks both groups off and affects the bottom line so you better be getting something back you can realistically sell to the people who bring you revenue.

Exactly.  When was the last time a rumor came out, Bulpett said "it isn't happening, and it isn't close", and a similar trade happened within 10 days?  I'm curious if it has, and that's why a few people on here have a cynical view of him.

I don't know about that; I think there are a number of posters here who try to remain objective in their trade proposals (and others who could try a little harder). Giving up a star is hard, but if you have no hope to build around him, then sometimes it's best to load up on high picks/younger players and start over.

We actually have a lot to offer other teams who are starting over.

Yeah, Bulpett's a front office stooge. The only people who buy what he's selling are those who still want a youth movement. It's comical to watch. He's clearly trading stories like this for scoops later, and he'd hardly be the first scribe to do it. He had nothing on the Horford front.

But ... I'm OK with an Okafor deal. Make it.
