I got Jaylen, but I'm open minded to different interpretations.

Probably Brown. His first step is elite. Smart is an excellent individual defender, but one-on-one like that good offense will always beat good defense.

It wouldn't be a blowout, but I would give Brown the edge, though Smart is certainly the better player right now with Brown having the higher overall ceiling.
Recovering Joe Skeptic, but inching towards a relapse.

Wait. I thought Smart could defend vintage Michael Jordan and Larry Bird and Magic Johnson all at the same time. I mean have you seen him defend? Oh my God. Marcus Smart can defend.

Whichever guy hit more bad shots first. Smarts too good defensively to give Brown easy looks. Browns to athletic to let Smart get easy shots either. Neither finish contested layups well, so itd come down to which bad shooter hit more tough jumpers.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
I like Brown a lot, but right now he is way too soft. Marcus is stronger, more crafty, and more intense. It wouldn't be a blow out and it wouldn't be pretty, but I give the edge to Marcus.

They are both the best rookies drafted here we've had since pierce.  Rozier and Bradley are next.  I think Smart is better as far as intangible stuff.  He is the true leader of this team imo. Jaylen is a better scorer and more athletic.  That's about where it ends though.

I love Isaiah and Horford as veterans. But Marcus and Jaylen are truly this team imo for different reasons.

If Danny falls for media pressure and idiocy and trades either i will be upset.

Marcus might fall or flop or something and hurt himself going all out

Regardless of who 'wins', viewer discretion is advised ;). We could probably use the footage to break guys at Gitmo, lol ;D.

Man, good question. I think Jaylen would really struggle with Marcus, who's one of the few guys who can match up with Jaylen physically. I guess I'll take Marcus, solely because he has two years of NBA basketball under his belt.
Isaiah, you were lightning in a bottle.

First off, TP for having "This poll must have some sort of agenda so I refuse to answer the simple question" as an answer  ;D

Secondly, it'd clearly be Brown.  Defense is great in a team game, but to win one-on-one you have to be able to score.  Brown won't be hitting outside shots, but if he gets going toward the basket he's gonna get a good shot.  Smart's only hope is taking advantage of Brown's handle and getting hot from outside, and I don't see that happening

Also, didn't Brown beat Butler at one-on-one?
I'm bitter.

I think there would be a lot of respect between both.   Intelligence and maturity is underrated in one on one regardless vs athleticism.

I've played a lot of guys in one on one over the years who were the best players on their respective teams and it usually goes like that.

Marcus regardless of his shooting is one of the most underrated players in the nba.

If its streetball and free throws are rarely called, Smart wins in a blowout. 7-1

If the ref is somewhat lenient and free throws are called, Smart wins but its somewhat close 7-4

If Jaylen Brown has a personal ref, i.e Lebron, Brown wins 7-4.
