In the era of lebron and the 3 splash brothers it is a little too optimistic to think that you can challenge to win a title... even if we get one of butler cousins and griffin...
I would try to develop talent... let them fade... keep the nets picks
A trade of young player like okafor would be nice without the nets pics
Danny tried but missed on durant.. he would make us a contender.. do not give up young  talent and valuable pics

I disagree.  Acquiring Cousins for future picks and bit players, would absolutely give Boston a chance against Cleveland and Golden State.  I mean this is a pretty solid rotation

Points - Thomas, Rozier
Wings - Bradley, Crowder, Brown, Smart
Bigs - Cousins, Horford, Olynyk

That 9 man rotation would cause both Cleveland and Golden State a lot of problems defensively and would absolutely crush a small ball death lineup.  Draymond Green is a great defender, but he can't guard Cousins in the post.  Even a bigger guy like Tristan Thompson can't handle Cousins in the post.  The other four Boston starters all good enough shooters that they can't be left alone and thus, you would force GS and Cleveland to play big or get killed by Cousins, which takes away a lot of their offensive advantage.

I'm certainly not suggesting Boston would be favored against either Cleveland or Golden State (it would not be), but to suggest that Boston couldn't challenge them is just silly.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Disagree, especially if it's Cousins.

GSW can be roughed up.  Cleveland proved it.  They lost Bogut and Barnes.  People might be surprised to see them regress.  You can't win with "5 Steph Curry's".  You need balance.  Iggy is a year older.  West and Zaza are no spring chickens.

Lebron's supporting cast is suspect.  What he has done the last 2 years is a small miracle.  At some point either they will fail him or he won't be able to carry them.  I refuse to believe that Dellavadova, Jefferson, and JR Smith are the makings of a perennial contender.  Lebron is doing strange things, but he's crossing over 30.

Look, if the only thing we care about is competing for titles, we might as well give up for the next 5-7 years.  It's very unlikely the Celts will be seriously competing to win a title.

Right now my hope is that they can find a way, in the next few years, to get to the ECF and give the Cavs a real run for their money.  That would be an accomplishment.  Making it to the Finals would be awesome.  I expect they'd get their backsides handed to them if they did, but that's OK.

We need to have priorities as fans apart from competing for a title.  Most teams in any given season, or any given decade, never really compete to win a title.  But still we watch anyway.

My favorite KG-era team was probably the 2012 team that had a great run but never really had a chance of winning the title.  Perhaps the Celts will field a similar team sometime over the next 4-5 years.  That'd be something.

I think it's possible for a physical team to beat the Warriors. I just don't see Cousins as the guy who can do it. I actually don't see him as a guy who can do anything other then screw a team up. He's an idiotic knucklehead.

As long as they're healthy then the Warriors and Cavs own the NBA for the next few years. I'd rather worry about making a young team for down the road.

Just like it was impossible to beat the record-setting Warriors this past season??

It's not about comparing the top three names on each team and letting fanboys rate them.  It's about how teams match up and who's coaching them.  Lebron isn't getting any younger and who knows how GS will do with no depth and correct lineups can counter them.  You don't roll over and hide for a half a decade, you man up and fight.  Weak talk around here.

As always, we need to remember to put in our *unless injuries create an opening* asterisks.

Curry suffered an injury, Kyrie got hot at the right time, and the Cavs had LeBron, one of the top 5 players ever.

All of that was enough to draw the Cavs even with the Warriors with 2 minutes left in a seven game series.

From there, it was mostly up to chance.  The Warriors' shots didn't go in; Kyrie's three did.  And that was the championship.

So yeah, never say never.  These new-look Warriors are especially well-insulated against injuries, though.  They will still be beatable.  I wouldn't bet on anybody other than San Antonio or Cleveland getting hot enough and lucky enough to do it, though.

For the foreseeable future, the league has one overwhelming favorite for the title, and 2-3 other teams that have a chance in a seven game series if a lot of things break in their favor.

TP!  We beat GSW in their house last year when nobody else could.

Nah, just avoid the Lebron and Steph superteams for the next 5 years.  Then avoid the Towns and Simmons/Embiid superteams for the 10 years after that, and build for 2031 (unless another superteam pops up, then just build for 2036 or 2041)
I'm bitter.

To be honest this team might take a step back without Turner... Smart HAS to breakout for us to be good in the East this year, especially looking at Detroit and the Pacers, those teams are going to be better.. I feel.

If you're waiting for 3 megatalents to fall into your lap via the draft, you're, generally, going to be waiting forever.
