The lottery is still too much of an uncertainty... Plus who knows what kind of draft position the picks will land especially with years of bad luck.. ie 07 draft

Yes. Give both, but for Boogie AND Westbrook. Then, I don't care for any draft.

I would do it.  The lottery is no guarantee of anything.  Even if the Nets have the worst record in the league the next two years, their picks could still be #3 or #5 for example.  Cousins is exactly the kind of super-elite player that Ainge has been talking about.

I'm also starting to come around to the idea that Ainge is not good at drafting at the top of the draft.  His strength seems to be in the 10-20 range of the first round (Rondo, Jefferson, etc)  Yes, I am starting to get concerned about Jaylen now even though my forebrain says to have patience with the kid.

Agreed...

8  days a week I'd do this trade.

Put it this way, before last season, if we knew we would end up with the third pick, we would have been ecstatic.  Then what happens?  We draft Kedrick Brown 2.0!  Ainge is not a good drafter.  In fact, I'd go as far to say he's a bad drafter.  Too many times before the college season we see these "studs" fall out of favor and underrated guys shoot up the ranks.  So what may end up being a great draft could turn into another 2, or even 3, man draft with us on the outside, again, looking in.  Roll the dice on Boogie, take the proven stud!!

there are only a handful of players in the league I'd consider in exchange for those 2 picks: Lebron, Durant, Curry, Cousins and Davis.   As long as the C's have a pre-trade chat with Cousins to gauge where his head is at and deem him a safe acquisition, the only concern I'd have is who has to go out the door with those picks for salary purposes.  Getting Cousins would be a big move but it'd be counterproductive if we have to ship out most of the talent on the roster to complete the deal.

Any Cousins deal starts with both Brooklyn picks. Remember how steep the price was for two well past prime players like Garnett and Pierce. I'm guessing:

We offer 2 picks plus Crowder.

They demand 2 picks plus Crowder and Bradley.

The final compromise is 2 picks plus Crowder and Rozier.

Yeah, sure.  You talk as if we have a genius drafting for us.  Danny might as well do what he does best, which is trading.  I don't care how "deep" the class is next years, give up the picks for Cousins.

This is not to say that the price for Cousins won't be steep, but all picks are not created equally. I am sure BKN assumed they would be competitive for longer - not just with Pierce and KG, but also by bringing in other players. I don't think anybody in the BKN organization thought that those picks had top 10 potential - never mind top 5 - at the time of the deal.

It should also be noted that we did take on what was considered the worst contract in the league at the time in Gerald Wallace.

Other than 2 out 3 rough games on the offensive end by the injured, 19 year old Jaylen Brown, what would make you say this? Do you not think that Ainge would have taken Simmons/Ingram or Wiggins/Parker?

It's not like the 2014 draft has proven to have all of these wonderful players that Ainge has passed on in favor of Smart. And this draft is way too early to make a decision on. If Dunn (who I was also in favor of taking) was not tearing up Summer League, I would be terribly worried. Other than him, it's not like the other four (Bender, Hield, Murray, Chriss) have absolutely proven they will play better in the NBA.

Ainge may suck at drafting at the top of the draft, but this has hardly been proven.

I'd prefer to trade Brown and keep one of the future Brooklyn picks, but even Sacramento is not dumb enough to accept that offer, so yes, I would trade both Brooklyn picks for Cousins.

Boogie is absolutely one of the very few NBA players with enough talent to justify such a trade. But I wouldn't give them any of our good rotation players, and probably only one other young prospect (Rozier/Yabu/Zizic - prefer to give up Rozier).

That's a side note rly, but the team with the worst record at the very worst picks 4th. #5 is not a possibility.

The basis for this seems very thin. One is a player who has a total of TWO years in the nba and another with zero games in the nba. Also, aside from smart the best rated available players were whom? Randle? Vonleh?

Let's slow down, watch some games, see how the kids develop and. Then pass final judgements.

Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.
