Ah yes, another thread like this one; just what Celtics Forums needed  ::)
It seems that no opportunity to rehash how our opinions merit more respect than Danny's should be overlooked.

But be prepared for more of this once SL is over and the dog days of the off season are upon us.

Who know? Maybe I will resurrect old draft prediction threads for us all of us to revisit. Hey, if it is fair to use 20/20 vision on Ainge it is fair to do it to us as well.  ;D

Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

-Furkan Korkmaz. Elite shooting, good athleticism, good handles, the full package. Not sure why Danny didn't take him given that he wanted a Euro.
-Chinanu Onuaku. His stats were so good at such a young age in college - I don't understand why nobody wanted to draft him in the 1st round.
-Dragan Bender.

Speaking of Dunn, has he played at all?  I mean, I'm not going to comment on missing out until he shows me something at least in summer league.

As for brown, he's an absolute gazel out there.  Looks like a completely different caliber of an athlete than anyone esle on the floor.  Will still need to put it together but you can clearly see what ainge sees in him.

Quite simply, Deyonta Davis.

Kid fell in our lap. Take him and trade the rest of the picks away.  He's exactly what I was hoping for mid to late 1st round and he was there at 31.

Speaking of Dunn, has he played at all?

You mean you missed his 27 point (10-18 shooting), 5 rebound, 3 steal, 2 assist debut?

Where you been?

He also dunked all over JaKarr Sampson.

Dejounte Murray.

Spurs got him at 29.

I like the Zizic pick, and Yabusele is growing on me.  But I think Dejonte Murray is going to be a real good player for the Spurs.

Tp Footney, fit going with someone besides Dunn. Couldn't believe the Spurs git him at #29. They have various the best luck.

He will be better than Jamal Murray. We passes on him three times.

What's laughable about Dunn is that he wouldn't fit here. Are you serious? The Kid is a Defensive terror, and you realize that if we started him at shooting guard he'd be the best two guard on the team.
He might be a better playmaker than Thomas as well. He would have fit fine.

Kris Dunn.

He's going to be a star, may potentially even be the best player from this draft.  He was available at #3, and we turned him down.

Brown has a lot of upside and it's not IMPOSSIBLE that he may turn out as good as (or better then) Dunn, but it's a serious long shot.  That kid is going to be a stud.

Depending on how things turn out, there is a pretty good chance that the Lakers, Celtics and Suns all end up regretting passing on that kid.  Ingram, Brown and Bender are all interesting prospects, but Dunn has a higher floor then an of them, and he has the attitude of a winner.  It may sound crazy, but I'll be pretty surprised if Ingram and Brown end up better then Dunn.  I'll be utterly shocked if Bender does.
I agree Dunn may have the highest floor and ceiling. He's still the riskiest pick of the lot. My feeling is his shoulder problems will reoccur and dog him throughout his career. Especially in light of the long NBA seasons and the amount of contact he'll receive. He may be a star for a year or two....then who knows.

Brown will be good. In a year or two we may regret passing on Bender or Chriss.
What players have had careers cut short from bad shoulders?

Still can't believe we picked Brown over Dunn tho.

Brown may turn out to be good, but 99% that Dunn turns out much better than Brown.

If NBA media pundits are to be believed, there was a clear consensus among NBA teams that Dunn was the BPA at 3. Based on all the teams that were rumored to be interested in Dunn, there seems to be some substance to that claim. IOW, we have experts on our side too and more of them.

This statement is the truest so far. Absolutely positively the consensus #3 pick talent wise Was Kris's Dunn.

We should have traded down. Maybe we could have done #3(Dunn) for #5 and Zach Lavine....still could have selected Jaylen or traded the #5 for Okafor.

End up with Zach Lavine and Okafor for the #3

at 16 I would have liked Lavert over Yab. At least Lavert you know can play and it's just an injury thing. Yab reminds me too much of a Glenn Davis wanna be.

Think the classic BPA argument is being misused a lot in this thread, there is absolutely the case where drafting a player by fit is beneficial to both your short term chemistry and long term talent flow.

We already have Isaiah, Bradley, Smart, Rozier, Hunter, Jackson, Young. The rotation is young, competitive and above all else flexible. We have depth in case anyone breaks down, talent developing in the D League, and the luxury of having one able to step up as a replacement if any of them are going to be used a trade.

Adding Dunn would have forced us to accelerate some decisions that we're not ready to make yet. The next big trade could easily be months away and we need each one of our backcourt players for potentiall ammo/salary matching. By not giving up playing time to Dunn we can showcase the trade candidates and not worry about any behind the scenes griping about PT in the locker room.

In this way of looking at it Brown could be 70% the player Dunn is and it would still have been the right call, BPA should always be used when your team is not close to contention, you ignore things like positional redundancy because it's likely few if any players on your current roster will be on your final team. The Sixers are better off loading up on all of those Centers because talented 7 footers are easy to move and will always be coveted. When your on the short list for top teams in your conference like we are, you have to keep the good of the team in mind.
