Even though we would have traded up to grab him. Denzel Valentine. The best passer in the draft and a great shooter. Just plays so Smart.

The complete opposite of Brown, which is why I would have loved to have them both.

Even assuming Valentine would be as valuable to us as you say (he is a SG, and IMO we have enough already)- how could we get him, since he was picked at #14?

If we all start throwing in names of players we like and then add 'we could have got him if we traded up' then this list is going to get too long and look too unfair to the players we drafted.

Kris Dunn.

He's going to be a star, may potentially even be the best player from this draft.  He was available at #3, and we turned him down.

Brown has a lot of upside and it's not IMPOSSIBLE that he may turn out as good as (or better then) Dunn, but it's a serious long shot.  That kid is going to be a stud.

Depending on how things turn out, there is a pretty good chance that the Lakers, Celtics and Suns all end up regretting passing on that kid.  Ingram, Brown and Bender are all interesting prospects, but Dunn has a higher floor then an of them, and he has the attitude of a winner.  It may sound crazy, but I'll be pretty surprised if Ingram and Brown end up better then Dunn.  I'll be utterly shocked if Bender does.

Dunn to me was the number 2 pick, no brainer at 3.

I agree Dunn may have the highest floor and ceiling. He's still the riskiest pick of the lot. My feeling is his shoulder problems will reoccur and dog him throughout his career. Especially in light of the long NBA seasons and the amount of contact he'll receive. He may be a star for a year or two....then who knows.

Brown will be good. In a year or two we may regret passing on Bender or Chriss.

I think Dunn was the best player on the board.  I don't know if he will be better than Thomas though.  He looks like he could be between Thomas and Paul though someday. Just plays with the right motor and everything right now. He is clearly the best basketball player right now out of the lot.  Hield, Bender all of them are kind of what we thought they were.  Still like Brown though.

Valentine went before us at 16.  Murray and Chriss 3 was too high. We made the right pick in Brown outside of Dunn or Hield.  Even Bender.  Those were the 4 guys and we have a pg in Isaiah.  I still don't like Murray that much for some reason.

I still rate this draft the same as I had it.  Ainge did fine with each pick I still think.

No regrets on Dunn for me. No way we were drafting him with Thomas here and going with a young pg and rebuilding that way. Thomas is a much better player right now and the next several years.  We weren't going to develop Dunn here.

There is no way that would have worked I don't think.

Brown was the right pick out of hield and bender.  They are somewhat limited i feel.

Drafting Dunn and trading him to philly also bad. We help our division rival and get okafor when we can do better for brown maybe.

The twolves are ridiculously young and talented. Whether they can keep it all together who knows.  I'm not that gullible falling for teams like that although they are really young and talented.

I dont regret Valentine either. He'll be good but I dont like him that much.  The draft was fine.

Dunn is going to be very good.  Made absolutely no sense drafting him here.   It was really the nets pick and they should regret it very much so.

This is one issue I have with Ainge sometimes though is I wonder how this team would look if Red was running things or even me.  He has his way he is trying to build where we can't take certain players.

If we were to build around a young player not sure how this team would look.  If he held onto KG an dpierce longer and we ended up in the lottery ourselves etc.

Most celtics teams were build with star players and traded for players in the past.  It was usually a mix of both but pierce and bird were both drafted here.  Different game now with how young some of these guys are.   Dunn is kind of rare that way where he played for a smaller school.

Dunn. Thought he might be even better than in college because he was on a 2 man team at Providence and he got most of the defensive attention. Really didn't/doesn't have any glaring weaknesses. From what I saw of him yesterday, Bender would be next (but I wouldn't have gambled on him).

Completely agree. Made a serious mistake not drafting this guy.
Coined the CelticsBlog term, "Euromistake."

You guys make me laugh.
You believe you have a better judgement from watching college highlights videos and mock drafts.
You are seriously thinking that your judgement is better than a bunch of scouts working full time job and travelling all aroung the world, and doing workouts.

You are watching a couple of SL games and start to judge the entire draft.
After that, you come back 5 five later and say, "see, Danny get it wrong".

This has to stop, it's becoming more and more ridiculous.

I agree.  It's like reporters who asked ainge before the draft whether he was going to take the bpa. They do this to hold it against him and get him fired.  I hope these same reporters have the same integrity in all the stupid stuff they write.  I know they don't.

There are reasons we didn't take dunn.  There is no way he fit here with what we are doing.  Taking him and being forced to trade him is also not smart.

Philly was trying to get us to do that. Da did the right thing passing on him.

Phoenix had the same problem, why we were able to get Isaiah from them in the first place. You can question that all you want, but he's trying to put a winning product on the floor.

Everyone thinks it's always BPA when drafting. That may be so later in the rounds, but when picking top 10, it's who best fits your system.

Dunn is a nice player, but to say he's head and shoulders above Brown isn't fare. Dunn has 3 more years of development on Brown. Of course he's going to be more NBA ready. Not too many one and dones are ready right out of the gate. A lot of people were high on Murry, but he looked worse than Brown in that first game.

Also we don't draft Dunn if we don't trade him on draft night. We would get pennies on the dollar for him with our pool of guards. Look at Philly and their bigs, they now have to move one or two of them to get Saric to come over. No one wanted to pay for them on draft night, so now they wont get that much for them. Same would happen to Boston taking Dunn.

DA doesn't always make the elaborate move that people want, or that he even wants, but he tries to make the smarter decision long term. Brown could be that, it's just people don't want to wait 2 or 3 years to see if that happens.

Dejounte Murray.

Spurs got him at 29.

I like the Zizic pick, and Yabusele is growing on me.  But I think Dejonte Murray is going to be a real good player for the Spurs.
