Very disappointing overall from Brown. However, still some positives. First, he looked a bit hobbled so you might be able to cut him a bit of a break(only a tiny one, youre gonna have to play through knocks in the NBA). His shot looks nice in catch and shoot situations, he needs to figure out how to keep his form and locate the basket when he shoots off the dribble and when curling of screens etc. his burst is just as advertised and hes actually quicker on his feet and most importantly his handle seems much better than I expected. This combination suggests to me that he will be able to get to the rim at will in the NBA.

He needs to learn much better defensive fundamentals. With his tools he should be a defensive stopper, not just OK. Then the big one. He needs to do a better job at the rim/in the pain. He blows by his defender with ease and seems to always go right to the rim with no plan. It might be that the game is too quick for him. If the game slows down for him, he will finish much better and be able to avoid charges and create easy baskets by dishing the ball in the paint.

Still optimistic about the kid. The brightside is that 2 of his weaknesses (ballhandling and shooting) seem to be a bit overblown while his strengths (really just athleticism) seems to be legitimate.

It's a good thing Ainge drafted most of these guys for how he thought they'd play two or three years from now, not how they'd perform against Chicago's 25 year old guys bound for overseas leagues.

2 notes before I bid you farewell,

1.) Brown was most obviously hurt. It was the single most obvious fact of the night. Even the commentators made note of it.

2) When danny is burning through his 10 billion picks, just pick one larger than average body who can rebound. This is freaking summer league, and our "bigs" are getting out muscled and out bodied by portis (granted, kind of expected given his draft pedigree) and cooley (who is cooley?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!.) Not to mention we got worked over by Wood against Philly. Come on Danny, just for me pick a large guy. Lets not settle for 6'8 centers and powerforwards who can "move their feet well."

Those were 2 hours that I will never get back..What I learned from todays game is that we don't have anyone that is ready to make an impact anytime in the near future. Brown looked lost out there and Young and Hunter were no shows. Yabu is the only one that sort of stood out amongst the garbage game that we played. If our players cant stand out in the summer league, God help us...Time to open a bottle of Red...hopefully by midnight, I will forget I watched that game 8)

In all seriousness, it was only one game and they are in Vegas...Who knows how late they were out last night, especially with our veterans in Vegas as well....

Bulls were hungry from the start - first summer league game. Celtics looked hungover from the start.

We pushed our way back into, but Cooley changed the complexion of the game. This is the type of game where a guy like Cooley can dominate, but he won't be an NBA player.

Mickey better show some more backbone when guys go at him.
Rozier has got to keep attacking, but he has to set up the split action on pick and rolls better.
Miller looked out of his league.
Nader looked interesting.
Yabadabadoo looked really good, but needs more consistency.
Brown looked a bit out of it. There were flashes, but he was definitely out of rhythm. I'm excited to see if he responds out of the gate in the next game.
Hunter looked like a shooter - take that both negatively and positively.
Young looked like Young.
Jackson looked like a tweener guard.

I have a strong feeling we are going to be talking ourselves into Jaylen Brown when he's averaging well below 40% for the season in mid January.

with the amount of drafted talent on our roster, we should be steamrolling teams like the 2016-17 Golden State Warriors.    We should win every game.
Pretty pathetic if you ask me.

Celtics have 10 drafted players on their Summerleague team:

Brown - #3 pick
Yabusele - #16 pick
Mickey - #33 pick
Young - #17 pick
Rozier - #16 pick
Hunter - #28 pick
Lentil - #51 pick
Jackson - #45 pick
Nader - #58 pick
Thornton - #45 pick

Chicago has a few... the rest is undrafted talent
Ports - #22 pick
Valentine - #14 pick
Grant - #19 pick

We should have blown them out.

That would be Bentil for two hundred, Alex ;) ;D.

buzz on brown seems to be accurate.  At this point in his career, he can't shoot or finish.  Here's hoping he develops it.  5 years from now he can be really good.

Not sure how say that is accurate already?
Cuz it's what we saw in College and it's what we are seeing now?  He can't shoot and he has trouble finishing.
Guys, he's 19 years old. It's gonna take a few years.

Shooting under 40% for him seems like a lock.  It also seems like a lock that someone will blame it on his bone bruise.    People are still talking themselves into Marcus Smart's atrocious offense being the result of a stubbed toe.

Are you aware that we did pick 7 foot 250 pound Ante Zizic

One, he did pick a guy like that, but he's still playing overseas.

Two, you don't pick guys to field a balanced summer league team.  You pick guys who you think might have a role in the NBA someday.  It's no accident that Ainge has been targeting dudes between 6'3" and 6'9" who can theoretically shoot and put the ball on the floor, because that's where the league is headed.

Most super big guys, unless they have amazing talent or are simply hyper energy guys slated for a short-minutes bench role, are obsolete in today's league.

Jaylen said his knee is bothering him. I'd expect that we won't see him again tomorrow, or possibly at all in Vegas.
Isaiah, you were lightning in a bottle.

6'11 ante Zizic * and yes I am very aware. Yet as this is a summer league thread, and as I am approaching this as a summer league fanatic, I'm more talking about the huge bodies who would actually be available for summer league aka Cooley.

Forget these almost 7' rebounders who have enough skill for european clubs to actually care enough to hold them overseas ;)

All kiding aside this "summer league club" could really use someone like Zizic. He is the exact piece that is missing.

There was no cohesion whatsoever and not having a center is hurting them.

but but but...what about HOF mickey?  ;)
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

Honestly Pho, I understand all of the points you made. That doesn't mean that during the middle of july, when we are getting schooled by some scrub named Cooley that it doesn't irk me a little bit. But yea, I put literally next to no stock into summer league games. I am just representing the vocal minority here who want a huge guy on the roster lol. Hopefully in the next year or so Zizic makes it over here.

As always Danny has picked guys that *might* fit where the nba is headed, it just sucks for our very *current* situatuon.
