i was up real late watching that game and youngs poor defence almost lost the game
-anderson ate him up at least through my tired eyes and anderson is slow motion-
please correct me if i.m wrong
young should be playing for his life and if he is, the last shred of hope is gone-

Natural basket ball instinct are missing .   Even tho he has nice release , and athleticism .

He plays behind during the action , not due to limited body , limited mind.

Athleticism = physical strength and the ability to do sports and physical exercises well

I'm sorry but I see NO strength in his game. I'm not sure how he gets this label of being very athletic. He might have a nice release when he's all alone but the problem is there are other defenders out there trying to stop him. Time to move on.

Young strikes me as the type of guy who needed to stay in college and develop more. He might just need a while to become an NBA player (role player). I don't think it'll be with the Celtics though.

He has terrible foot speed.
Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.

Yep.  It's so weird how so many posters continue to claim that he is athletic.

He absolutely should have stayed in college for 4 years then he might have a Buddy Hield type of upside. I think he has clearly not developed since coming out early. It's too bad and I know it's a money thing but if he only realized he wasn't athletically or mentally ready to compete he'd be in a better place today.

Young has no business on this roster.

Except in the minds of people who refuse to admit Ainge ever blew a first-round draft pick.
Coined the CelticsBlog term, "Euromistake."

Hate to give up on the guy. But he lacks alpha dog mentality to succeed in NBA.  Has no plan b on offense if his shot is not falling.  I think he works hard on defense, but doesn't handle mismatches well. (Anderson, by the way, was able to get his shot off of everyone, not just Young).

The hand-writing seems to be on the wall, based on Danny's comments last night.  Probably will get cut or a throw in on a trade.

Still like the trade with Jersey!!

When he's on the ball he can stay in front of guys but he just doesn't have the strength to prevent anybody around his size or bigger from getting wherever they want to go and getting whatever shot they want to take.

Off the ball, he's mostly useless.

You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

i only used anderson because of his slow foot speed, thought james might have been able to guard him---young also doesn't look like he hit the gym -hunter does-

He seems to be better off the ball this summer league, imo.

His issue seems to be that he has slow feet. He's not quick enough to get to the hoop on offense, or quick enough to stay with guys on defense.

On offense he can hit open 3's but isn't good at getting himself open. If he wants to succeed he should be constantly moving to get himself open for 3's. Right now he stays on one side and just hopes his defender help off him. This leads to him disappearing for long stretches of games.

He's never going to be an elite defender, or a guy who creates off the dribble imo, so to stick in the NBA he's going to need to shoot 40%+ from 3 and find ways to get himself open for a lot of quality shots.

I would be surprised if he isn't dealt in the off season.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

I think he is a D League player and have since before last year.

Don't know who caught the NBATV broadcast last night but the color commentator rightfully said that there is a fine line between the quality of players who make NBA teams and become role players and D League players.

I think Young is on the D League side of that line. Clueless on defense and intimidated by the quality of defenders at the NBA level offensively. He just doesn't have a high BBIQ or the killer instinct NBA players need to have.
