So we guaranteed the contracts of Amir and Jerebko.  We are allowed to have 15 total players.

So we have...

Horford
Amir
Bradley
Thomas
Crowder
Jerbko
Smart
Olynyk
Rozier
Young
Mickey
Hunter
Brown

So that's 13 players.  Assuming we let Yabu and Zizic stay overseas... we still have our 2nd rounders Jackson, Bentil and Nader.  We could waive all three.  We could keep two of them.  Or we could just match whatever offers Zeller and Sully get.

Still a team in need of a consolidation trade.

Only if they settle for the one year qualifying offer. We should not tie up money in those two beyond this year with all of the prospects at our disposal.

Hopefully we could stash Jackson and Bentil, or move some of our roster in a trade in order to make space for them. Nader is almost surely going to be waived.

We haven't signed the 2nd rounders, so there is no need to waive them. If there are no trades, Cs will probably keep everybody together for training camp, through non-guaranteed contracts, or simply stash the 2nd rounders to the d-league while giving them no nba contract to keep their draft rights.

If Sully is cheap and for just another year, sure.
Zeller is pretty much a glorified end-of-the-bench big.  I'd rather they chase Terrence Jones if another big is still needed for the roster.

I'd like to see Mickey be given a shot.  Even yabusele.  I dont see how they overly fit into our plans.  Zizic isnt coming over right away so might make sense to hold onto zeller but eh.

I want Yabu and Jackson on the team next season.

You can have up to 20 guys through training camp but the roster must be down to 15 by the time the season starts.  They have plenty of time to decide on what to do.  Bentil and Jackson without being offered contracts would likely be picked up by someone else if sent down to the D league, they will probably get contract offers after the C's consolidate the roster.  Who knows what the plan is with Sully and Zeller, it is still probably very fluid.

I'll be very disappointed if we see Sully and Zeller in Celtics' uniforms next year. I also expect Young to be gone. My solution: sign Bentil, sign DMo for one year, minor trade of a pick for a player.
Isaiah, you were lightning in a bottle.

Going to quote my post from another thread:

Roster situation: 4 roster spots will be fought between Sullinger, Zeller, Young, Hunter, Bentil, and Jackson.

What's the optimum we can hope for (aside from trades & other FA targets I don't know about)?

Both Sullinger & Zeller on one year deals. Retain Young and Hunter, and Bentil & Jackson agree to a contract in the NBA DL or Europe.

That keeps our rights for everyone and produces what should be our best NBA ready talent for our roster.

We'll see how it plays out.

Also, I'll point out that there's no way Danny gives anyone a contract beyond this year (except rookies with option years / non guarantees).

Yeah we could keep all of them fairly easily.  Sully is still  better than anyone else but what is the point of even having these guys as stashes if they are never going to play or even sniff the roster.

might make sense to keep sully and zeller for a year but again what is the point if they are gone eventually anyways.

i get its about timing but just saying. Better to have them all then none of them i guess.   More options to play with. I don't think it overly matters though really.  We are nickel and diming big time here.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
I prefer SL's idea of going after Larry Sanders on a 1+1 more. It would give us some real upside at the center position without too much of a commitment. He is also a veteran (while still young and with potential) so he could contribute right away at a position of need. It's possible he has a new hunger for actually playing bball again.

Without a multi-year commitment, Sanders is hands-down the option over Sully and Zeller.

Sanders might be worth the risk over those two clowns

Lol, almost anyone is worth the risk over those two clowns, imo.  Well, except for David Lee, haha ;) ;D.

Tucker Silva @TuckSilva
Mannix: Keep an eye on Jared Sullinger coming back to Boston on a possible one-year deal.
