Crowder people overvalue imo.  He is a very good player but is replaceable. Butler is a much better player.

I agree, and apparently Danny didn't mind putting him on the trading block. The question is, would you have been willing to include either AB or Smart on top of that?

Nope.

Then you're crazy....Marcus Smart might be a tenacious defender, but his poor shooting makes him an offensive liability. Butler, on the other hand, is one of the best two-way players in the League - not to mention a solid offensive threat.

Crowder is locked up for the next 4 years at $7M per.  Or in other words, 25% of what Mike Conley is making.

Please.

Per KC Johnson of the Chicago Tribune, the Celtics offered the #3, #16, and Crowder for Butler, but were not willing to include AB or Smart.

Would you have done this deal?

At first, this seems like a lot to ask for, but I think we ultimately would've had enough assets to recover from the loss of Crowder and Butler, and assuming Butler might've been enough to convince Durant to sign with us (longshot) this trade would've been more than worth it IMO.

Would consider Crowder, #16, #23, and the Memphis 2019.  That's it.

haha, you're joking right?

Yes, but I do not think this was the offer. Of course you trade Crowder, Brown and Yabasule for Butler. Surely Chicago would also want Bradley or Smart.

Durant was also still in play at that point people have to remember.  Getting Butler plus Horford may have enticed Durant.

Butlers value now is lower than it was to us imo.

Nothing would have enticed Durant. His heart was always set on Golden State.

Nah. Replace #3 with #23 and I would consider it.

Would do our offer.  Wouldn't do their counter.  I can't find a link right away but on Draft Night the rumor was they were asking for even more - #3, Crowder, Bradley, and BRK 2017.

No I am not.  Jimmy Butler is massively overrated by people on Celticsblog.  What exactly has he accomplished in his career that would make him worth Jae Crowder, a Top-3 draft pick, and 2 more 1st round picks?

Thing is OKC nearly beat GS with their physicality and scoring. Butler is a guy who could help us.  Jaylen and Crowder are good. Plus Yab but we have other pf's and Butler is the best player and scorer there.  He's also a physical defender.

I would not trade Smart or Bradley.  We need them in that situation.

OKC doesn't choke there very different.  Brad Stevens is a better coach.  Bradley and Smart are better than anything OKC had at SG.

Isaiah, Smart/Bradley, Butler, Horford and we get ourselves a legit PF or upgrade Isaiah.  That's a team that could win.

I guess it depends who you value more.  Bradley and Smart or Jaylen and Crowder.  I'm not giving up both. Butler is the best player there though right now.

Our team  is fairly badass regardless with Isaiah and Horford and our glut of tweener PF's.  We need an upgrade at a couple spots.

No.

Keeping Smart is a smart thing to do.  He's an elite defender and a developing offensive weapon.

And he's only 22!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't one of the major complaints by many on here in regards to trading for Butler at the trade deadline that Ainge was unwilling to include Crowder in any such transaction?

I don't think it was either of those things as much as it was rebounding.  OKC did what you're supposed to do, imo, when a team switches everything - have your big guys go to the front of the rim against their now-advantageous matchups.  Even if they can't score, like Steven Adams, you can take any shot you want because your 4 and 5 will just kill the Warriors on the offensive glass, which is exactly what happened.  Golden State was getting absolutely pounded on the boards, mostly by Adams. The guy was a one man wrecking crew out there, lol ;D.

Don't know why people don't want to include Crowder but AB is fine. If we trade AB we lose all floor spacing because neither Crowder nor Jimmy have long range. AB, on the other hand, is easily our best shooter.

developing offensive weapon.

I like Smart but this is a big time reach.  He shot like 37 % from the field.

Yeah having Butler with Jaylen and Crowder makes less sense than Butler with Bradley and Smart.
