Didn't we push back the guarantee date on Amir and Jonas to July 7th?  Doesn't that mean that if we want to use our additional cap space (by renouncing those guys), we have today to do it - otherwise they become guaranteed contracts?

I would expect we'll pick up their options.  Both are good contracts in this day and age of Monopoly money contracts.  Plus, they know the system.  I think Amir and Horford will work nicely together.

Didn't we essentially promise them to pick up the options unless we used their space to sign two max free agents?

But I think you're onto something, LB. If anything is going to happen soon, it'll be today. Otherwise, it'll be a long summer.

Well, there is also the excitment of Sully's offer sheet  :o

Shockingly, I actually agree.

I've been as strongly against Okafor as anybody - really do not like him as a player.  But now that we have Horford who can stretch the floor, and who offers some defensive versatility, it actually helps to hide most of Okafor's flaws.

We really don't have anybody available on this roster who is worthy of starting (Sully is a disaster. Olynyk is too foul prone, Amir is too questionable health wise, Mickey isn't experienced enough and Jerebko isn't starting caliber) so we need SOMEBODY.

Okafor isn't optimal, but with Horford standing out on the perimeter much of he time, Okafor would be free to bang down low all he wants...and I feel better about his possible attitude concerns knowing he'd be playing alongside a grounded veteran like Horford.  I feel like he's a guy Okafor could learn a lot from.

I'd be just as happy with Noel also to be honest - either would be fine with Horford.  We just need somebody...with talent.  I don't want to see Ainge turning down perfectly fair deals just because he wants the satisfaction of knowing he's ripped off the other GM.  The deals reported for Okafor/Noel around draft time were perfectly fair IMHO - Noel/Okafor, Covington and two late firsts for #3.  I don't understand how Ainge criticised that deal.  It's not a "steal" sure, but it's fair on both teams...

We're kinda pretty desperate for a backup SF to replace turner as well, so Covington wouldn't be a terrible option.

Just not sure what the deal would change to now that Kris Dunn is no longer available to us as a trade chip.

Rozier or Jackson both looking good in SL -- neither are Dunn, but both have NBA starter potential. I think either would be good fit in Philly.

Also, Smart for Okafor or Noel sounds good. Smart plus Clips 2019. Or Smart plus Rozier/Jackson.

Then get Westbrook.

Smart for Okafor or Noel I would do in a heartbeat.

Bizarre that after these guys get guarantees we will still have 16mill in cap space  (6mill below the floor!!) Of course this assumes we don't match any deals Tyler and Sully are offered.

We reeeeeaaally don't want to take on any longterm salary with the cap space, but Horford and IT and Avery all want to win now. It puts us in a difficult spot. If noone offers Sully and Tyler a deal, it may solve our dilemma by default.

Are there any FAs left that we want??

Boban from the spurs. He's restricted and to be honest would be a better bench player than zeller at this point. Spurs seem to be pretty financially thin, so make him an offer danny.

Yeah, the Boban idea has been floated a lot around here. It's good one, but would you give him a three year deal? He may get that somewhere..

What about Allen Crabbe?

Yep, we'll see a lot of fictitious trade scenarios around celticsblog involving Westbrook, Butler, Okafor, Wade, or Cousins where the Celtics offer a package of James Young, Kelly Olynk and the 2019 Memphis pick.

Depends how much per year. If it's 5-7 then yea sure I'd roll with a 3 year deal. Once our roster is set, I would offer him the reSt of the cap space on a 1+1 to see if he bites. The new cap is silly.

Looks like it may be the only offer he gets.

Right now, our needs to improve this roster is simply a talented scorer at the 3 spot really. Maybe a centre who can hold his ground would be useful too and we could then move Al to the 4 spot....

No need to make moves that will gut our roster...simply be patient until people come wanting to trade with us or next free agency....we are honestly in such a position, so lucky lol xD of course things could backfire but meh might as well maximise all the talent to make our assets ever so valuable!
