Good to hear we still have interest in him.  Playing next to Horford would be great for him.  I hope we can get him.

Good for him, better for a NoeL, or WCS.

WHERE IS THE LOVE FOR WCS?

I'd like okafor.  I don't like him enough to give up brown or smart.  I really hope we don't trade Smart or Jaylen in any deal for these guys.

I wouldn't have traded Smart or the #3 then and I won't do it now either.   Butler is a little different but not really.  If we were getting Durant that's different if Butler would have lead to that.

Okafor I think is good but Jaylen is really just as good someday and probably a better two way player.

The offer has to start with Smart plus a sweetener
Okafor is much better than people think and if we could get him for Marcus Smart I would be thrilled....
Also, Philly has 2 good 1st rounders next year besides their own:2017 LAL(top3 protected) and MIA unprotected.
My idea would be if we got another top pick in 2017 draft or did a trade with the Lakers and gave them back their 2017 pick for a package around D. Russell

Anyways with Jaylen Brown on the team now, Okafor makes the most sense and he can pick apart teams w/ Al being able to stretch the floor and the rest of the starting line-up's ability to hit the 3

This would be if we were ready to rely on RJ Hunter, Jaylen Brown, and even James Young or Rozier. But even though we give AB away we would get back more value with those 2 picks by far.

Marcus Smart
Avery Bradley
4
Okafor
MIA 2017 first rounder unprotected
LAL 2017 first rounder (top3 protected)

Why Noel or WCS? They are 1 dimensional, I'd rather do a better trade and get JOhn Henson.

Do you not think Myles Turner is any good? Because he was undervalued and much of that was due to his UT team being horrible and having no other legit scorers....ESPECIALLY ANY LEGIT OUTSIDE SHOOTERS. So teams packed it in. Much like they did with 19 year old rookie Okafor, who is blessed with incredible size and length but specimens like that usually have a harder time their rookie years on rotations and etc.

IMO Okafor can get much better and his time w/ the sixers lowered his value bc they had no other legit scorers or shooters, so teams packed it in.

No interest in J.Okafor with Al Horford here.

We already have a better center in Horford.

I would be willing to move Horford to PF but only alongside a center who can play both inside and outside. J.Okafor can only play inside so I do not consider him a good fit next to Horford.

Colangelo will ask for Brooklyn 2017. I would do Brooklyn 2018 and the rights to Jackson. I think that Ainge is trying to conserve the Brooklyn picks for a megadeal like Butler. If that's the case, I would offer Smart, rights to Jackson, Young or Hunter, and Celtics 2018. It's kind of a smorgasbord of smalls, and he'll probably say no, but they need smalls.

Watching Rozier's growth, I almost would want to include Smart instead.

Rozier has looked good, but it's SL against players he should look good against. Smart was looking just as good last year before he got hurt.

I'd rather ride on the rise of Rozier with the trade, make 76ers think they are getting something special. With Okafor until he learns some better D, you need to surround him with as much good D as possible. In the pick and roll Defensive rotations you need guys that can defend multiple positions. Right now Rozier can only guard PG's and smaller SG's. Smart has proven to guard 1-5 with success.

I would do Rozier,Young,Yabu, Meph 1st and Clips 1st. I think Philly has enough young guys to develop right now, they'll want to space them out a bit.

Why? Because Okafor cannot play defense. We can do better.

LOL, beat me to it

Okafor has an excellent mid-range game.  Very strong shooting percentage as a rookie.  Doesn't have three point range, but this notion that Okafor can't shoot is just nonsense.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

We'll give you Terry Rozier, who's tearing up Summer League, your choice of James Young or RJ Hunter, and the 2019 Clippers First Round Pick for Okafor. You get an emerging, young PG, shooting that you desperately need, and a future pick.

This, plus I will throw in the Celtics' own first round pick in 17. We do NOT need another multiple rookie draft.

So is the notion that Okafor is incapable of playing defense. I would assert that the coaching of Stevens and the mentorship of Horford will advance his game dramatically, as disappointing as that will be for all the people on this board who've made their minds up about a 19-year-old kid.

There's a lot of nonsense regarding him on this board.

We don't have multiple first rounders in 2017, only the right to swap with Brooklyn. And as I look across the league, great chances again to have a top pick with it. Not saying that it wouldn't be good idea to use it on Okafor or not, it's the type of prospect you might consider doing it for, but I object to the idea of throwing picks away simply because "we don't need another multiple rookie draft".

Considering how big contracts are going to be occurring in the next few years to manage to sign free-agents, having cost controlled young players on your roster to off-set the costs to go after top talent in the league, having these young guys on hand is not a bad strategy to have.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
Smart for Okafor straight up is fair for both teams and neither side would be torn apart by the media. I only do this trade if I am sure that Rozier is ready to step into major minutes. So far he looks great, but we don't have a ton of depth at the guard positions if we let Smart go (Crowder and Brown seem more like SFs to me).

I don't think it makes sense to trade the 2017 pick at this point. It could be a top 2 pick with what is rumored to be a good draft. The C's shouldn't panic into making any silly trades.
