It's really that simple.  Ainge can keep this cap space and the door open for the possibility.  There are only so many players in the league that can win us a championship but this plan has flaws to it as well.   

We do still have draft picks.  We can still keep that space and hope to land someone a different way, but part of me wishes Ainge would just build this.

He could have drafted Curry, Durant etc had he been in position to do that.  Easier said than done though. I'm not sure I see anyone like that the next few drafts either.

There are other ways to build besides this. The Pistons did it.  Other teams have done it.  West has really turned the tables on us here.

We are seeing the minus of this right now.  We didn't get him and struck out.  Didn't hit the ball out of the ballpark either.  We are in that middling area.

I just hope Ainge builds this.  The pipedreams are there but we just need to do our own thing.  Stop rooting for other players and teams.  I hope the warriors lose as well.  To us would be even better.

They are not a stable situation past the next year or so. They have a lot of players due to get paid.  They just let their entire bench go and are banking on their 4 stars who are going to be free agents in a year.

The 80's celtics and lakers were predicated on their stars as well but not like this.

It's good we do our due dilligence that way.   It drives the price of these guys up. The warriors  are going to have Curry, Klay, Durant and Green plus a makeshift lineup.  Ezeli will probably resign with them but who knows.  They still have Iggy and Barbosa and guys like that though.

All 4 of those guys are max players ultimately if teams want to pay them that.  Green or Klay might have to take a paycut to stay.  Curry is going to get a huge deal next year.

West is not stupid.  He is going to make it work and is doing the right things but even still Durant is an obvious upgrade over Bogut and Barnes.  Ezeli is their best center. Bogut always gets hurt or doesnt play when it matters.  He probably has it all figured out how he can keep these guys too and sign other players but there is no guarantee it all works out.

I wouldnt put my money on Durant leaving. He could reup with them and Curry as their main two guys.

Another plus on "waiting" is there is a new crop of very, very good FAs after next season, so it's not just Durant.

Curry is going to reup with them I feel.  Durant will probably do the same.  It's still a long shot. He could come here.  It doesnt hurt to do what ainge does and be in the mix.  But it's still a long shot.

We need something more concrete than that.

I agree.  I think it doesn't h urt to be in the mix but we really need to do our own thing. This is a win for West. Hats off to him. It's sucks.

I like Jaylen a lot.  It was between him or bender to me though. I hope we made the right choice.  I think he can be very very good.  Not necesarily transcendant lebron or durant good.  But Kawii LEonard good isn't out of the question.

We are like Butler now to me going up against Duke.  Butler came up 2 points short.  There are thigns we can do to change that. It doesn't have to be  Durant.

We are the second best team in the east on paper.  There are things we can do to be the best team in the east and upset a team like Golden State.

I would dangle Jaylen and Crowder for a guy like Kevin Love. Or a future pick instead of Jaylen. I wouldn't necessarily do it but I would dangle something like that.

I think we like jaylen.  I think he's as good as if not better than josh jackson or giles coming out next year by next season. 

He's not Butler good or Paul George good yet.

These are more rumor material.  I think we keep jaylen and try to find some other way.

I think ultiamtely we need to beat teams like that with defense.  We aren't going outscore them with what we have.  We need some help  in that area while keeping our defense.

Having bigs who can score and guards who can guard is the way to go imo.

I'd trade Crowder and a future pick for Kevin Love.

I would target guys like Marc Gasol, Love.  Not sure on Cousins or Pau.    Not sure on Jimmy Butler.  Paul George maybe.

I'd roll with Jaylen though.  I think we need a guy like Marc Gasol or Kevin Love while keeping our team in tact.
