I don't blame the celts at all. We had to go for Horford to have a chance at Durant but he's a declining 15 and 6 guy. Do peeps here think any team would be interested in getting that max slot opened for us again. Eesh. Tough day to be a celts fan.

They're not moving Horford.

He's ours for the next few years.

We're gonna love him.  We will win at least a few playoff series with our new Big Al, as long as his pecs are OK.

Lolwut?  The Celtics need a veteran stud.  Just because they aren't contenders doesn't mean they should dump anyone under the age of 25.

  • Let's Go Celtics!
If we do that, we'd never get another free agent meeting again.

Also, Horford is a major talent upgrade for us.

Getting Horford is still good.   We are the 2nd best team in the east on paper.  With Stevens as coach we can play the underdog for a bit here.  We still have work to do though.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
He will be good (maybe not great) this season and we should likely be even better than last year. With the cap rising again next year, we should be able to move him and receive assets in return if that's what Danny chooses.

Horford isn't as sexy as Durant, but we still got the 2nd best available free agent this offseason without giving up anything to get him. It is an exciting time to be a Celtics fan - don't let the super-wuss Durant get you down!

That's not very nice. I don't play video games. It was just a question. I'd just rather have that dough for a younger guy. Chill out. Lol

Obviously we are not going to trade him right away but I don't see anything wrong with considering him as an asset just like any other asset which means "tradeability" is part of the value of an asset.  I admit that I am not that excited about Horford.  He is an upgrade for us at PF but his best years are likely behind him.  A productive but declining veteran is not really the best thing for our team right now.  He could have more value to another team at some point and that point may be sooner rather than later.

Just for example, say CLE was interested and they send out Love to a third team and we get a younger player like Favors or Butler.  I don't think something like that would be a bad outcome.

So the Celtics FINALLY sign a top FA and now you want to ship him out?! With all due respect, that might be the dumbest stuff I've seen all day. Come on, man.
