Now that both draft and essentially free agency has ended, I'm looking over the ways we can realistically and legitimately get better heading into next season and try as I may, the best option on the board at PF has to be Kevin Love, who has now won a ring, is devalued in public perception and wants to play a more important role on a contending team.

We keep putting out options that kill our flexibility for marginal stars like Jimmy Butler and he still can't shoot.

I wouldn't want Love at PF with Amir at C, but Horford with our perimeter D can more than hide Love on defense. This feels like a win-win for both us and Cavs.

My suggestion is KO+2018 BOS pick for Love. We get our "star", floor spacing PF, good rebounder and offensive threat. Cavs get KO, who is more than capable of play Love's role on their team at a much cheaper cost which allows them to resign JR Smith to a decent deal that he has earned.

I'll be happy with a lineup with IT, Bradley, Crowder, Love and Horford, with Amir, JJ, Smart coming off the bench.

I just don't see why Cleveland makes the move. They just won a title and Love made strides under Lue.
2021 Houston Rockets
PG: Kyrie Irving/Patty Mills/Jalen Brunson
SG: OG Anunoby/Norman Powell/Matisse Thybulle
SF: Gordon Hayward/Demar Derozan
PF: Giannis Antetokounmpo/Robert Covington
C: Kristaps Porzingis/Bobby Portis/James Wiseman

JR Smith played a bigger role in their championship run and is now a free agent that they can't afford. Cavs currently pay league-high $54 million in luxury tax and the simple trade I suggested actually alleviates that without losing a key piece and possible adequately replacing an underutilized piece

No.  The Cavs certainly aren't going to give him away now but even if we could get him cheap, it makes more sense to maintain cap space and wait for next offseason.

Our lineup looks very decent:

IT
AB
Crowder/Brown
Horford
Amir

, but I'm quite sure there will be some trade soon. This has to be more better, now when Al is in the house,

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
Funny, if GSW had won the championship over CLE, it is likely that Love would be available and GSW might not have pushed as hard for Durant.

The fall-out of the finals (and LBJ winning another freakin' championship) continues.

I'd rather Vucevic than Love. Scores and rebounds more and lets Al play at PF more.

Isn't Horford an All-Star C, why would we want him to play PF?

I'd rather have Amir Johnson in the starting lineup than Kevin Love.

Why would we make cavs even better than us than they already are? Thus baffles me that people keep bringing a cavs trade up like this.

Yes, and he is a great defensive stud, too.   Are you kidding me?

Don't quit your day job to work as a GM.   CLE would laugh at that offer.

It is what Cavs fans do.

Nah.  Love and Horford is a questionable pairing.  On top of that, I really don't think you can play Love against the Cavs or Warriors.  Certainly not this new version of the Warriors.
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

instead of that, why dont we just resurrect the other 2,208 threads that talked about it.  ;D
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.
